OK, imagine if there was an extra little valve in your head for each cyl that raised or lowered compression depending on revs and boost ( obviously for turbo cars)

What do you think ?

I think Saab made a 1.6 with a developed idea of that.
here it is:

that looks like a very interesting article... i'll have to have a look at that...

i always do the same, think of something that i think is brilliant and then find out its already been done, or in development.

i was having a similar idea before, but with variable displacement, by changing the stroke. i ran into problems when i tried to workout a way to keep the compression ratio in a certain range...

Nice thoughts though.. wonder if its any good..??

I reckon it would be good for small turbo cars.

Its like in my brothers r32 GTS-T. Down low, it doesnt have alot of torque but as the revs built up, the turbo spools and it pulls nicely.

Now, if you could get the compression to be higher when the car isnt boosting, you will regain some torque :) You i wll probably need some uber sweet ECU though.

Also, it would be good for NA cars if you plan to run low boost. Instead of ripping your head/s of and putting in a lower compression gasket, all you have to do is press a button on your compression controler :D

I 'think' im making sense lol
