Has anyone with DBA rotors had any rust issues? The only reason I ask is cause I've put a set on (rear KR) about 3 months ago and they've rusted like no one's business... they look like they've been sitting in salt water for years.

Also, this is a bit off topic, but does anyone know where I can find front strut insulators apart from Mitsubishi spares?

Thanks, Andy

Hey mate. I have DBAs on my car. Although its not a magna, im sure this might help. The grooves in mine have rusted, and if ive been driving in rain, usually in the morning there's a little bit of surface rust on them, but that gets wiped off with normal braking after about 5 mins. As for the part that isnt rubbed by the pads (inner section), that came painted a gunmetal grey colour, and has stayed that way

Mine aren't painted at all... Although my fronts, which are RDA, are unpainted and they don't have the faintest spot of rust on them

If the rust is there on the area where the pad contacts the disk after driving start worrying, you're calipers may be seized. If not it will normally dissapear after a couple of stops and not cause any problems. If it is on the center of the disk where the wheel bolts to then when they were installed the painted coating may have been wiped off the center. Whoever installed them cleaned the disk before installation ( which is proper)with brake clean etc and they were not careful enough and wiped off the protective coating on the center.Fitting instructions warn of this.Only problem this will cause is rust on the center.Only fix is to remove and repaint. My standard disks go rusty overnite if it's been foggy. and strutt insulators are available from auto parts stores and suspension shops.they normally come in a kit sold as Strutt Mate. Kit includes new insulators and protective boot, just throw away boot if you don't want it.Kits are about $25.Hope this helps. If not I think I may have a spare set sitting around the workshop. Im in Penrith during the days.

if brown rust bothers you on the bits the pads don't touch,
go get a bottle of Selleys RustFix and paint it on.
Rust will go black and be lot less visible.
