Fantastic. You guys are risking yourself, your car (and probably insurance), and others for tint so dark you can't see the road at night. All about the looks huh?

well i have 20% atm and i'm going darker... living in townsville 20% is next 2 useless during the day. i have never had an issue seeing at night.

*cough* get over it *cough*
If somebody wishes to do something illegal its there choice. Not your problem if they cant see where their going. And if they police defect them, then their fault. Dont get worked up about it, because you cant do anything but type swear words at them......

Now back on topic! :D
Um mate it IS his problem if they cant see and crash into his car/or other cars because they couldn't see.

I agree that fully sick dark tint that you cant see out of, blue undercar neons, blue headlights etc. look awesome! But driving around with them is a stupid idea and a good reason why they're illegal.

Think you little confused:nuts:
dave_au didn't type any 'swear words'. Always a good idea to read carefully before attacking others:))
And I totally agree with dave_au.........tint so dark you can't see at night, come on now!!!!!
Its not about the defects from Police, the fine, or even your insurance not covering you when you need it.......its about not seeing ME and others when walking across the road at a crossing, or driving around that 'bend' in the road at night.
You can go plenty dark enough, have good vision, and still stay legal.

i always have my front windows open so this isn't much of a problem for me. the only problem i had is when reversing but now i got super bright reverse lights its not hassle and 30% on the gold coast in summer is next to useless

Wilsact, i know he didnt use swear words. I was saying that the most he can do is tell somebody their doing wrong. Unfortuneatly unless any AMC member is a police officer or from the road authorities we cant do much. Better to not get all angry and worked up when theres little u can do on this side of the keyboard.
Didnt mean to get angry or offend u Dave_Au.

Nah you didnt offend me, Im fine with it.
What you do is up to you with your cars, I just felt a compulsive urge to state my opinion.
It's slightly humorous on AMC that we have a few threads talking about the best headlight setup to achieve the best vision at night, then we have others where tint for show significantly decreases vision at night.
Fair enough, dark tink looks good on cars during the day, but if it gets to such an extent at night that you have to be driving with the windows down, or can't see whats on the road ahead because of the tint, then it's akin to using welders goggles for sunglasses. There would have to come a point of time where you should probably have to ask youself if it's worth yourself the inconvenience and potential risk.

ok, front window = not tinted = perfect vision.
only time the side windows give me a bit of trouble is when its pitch black outside, just makes the black outside even more blacker...and when cops pull me over i wind down my windows....problem solved.....not saying im driving blind geee

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think reflective tint (like mirror, etc.) is illegal. But eh, I've been wrong b4 lol
I know it's not a Magna, but I have a Tarago (Champagne Gold) with tint. Just went for the darkest legal tint. Front drivers/passengers windows are lighter, the other windows are darker. IMO, the standard black - darkest LEGAL tint looks great on any car.
However, after I had it done, I was told by another place, I could have gone darker again with the back window but then it's hard enough to see out the rear window of a Tarago now without it being darker :bowrofl:

It has a different appearance depending on the light and angle, also gives you an idea of how it looks against the Kashmir.

Can I just add, as a former window tinter no-one with a sedan that doesnt need to get old film stripped off before they get new stuff put on should be paying more than around $320 ANYWHERE in OZ for ANY film. Shop around, you can get it done no matter what film you want on your car, the only thing you have to check up on is worksmanship; make sure that their work is quality and if its through the books get a reciept.
Cheers

premier will do darkest legal with lifetime warranty for $180-$195 i've had 3 cars done there and they have done a real good job.... Premier Tint coburg.... this time a got armor to do it cost more and 1 week later still has bubbles in it  they tell me to wait up to 1 month for the film to cure as it's a higher quality and thicker than normal tint.... sounds like a story to me

Depends where you are and what type of a vehicle it is... in the ACT you can only have 35% unless your vehicle is commercial. See http://www.rego.act.gov.au/registrations/windscreenstinting.htm.
