hello,
installed a headunit in my mates TS, now the dash lights arent working?
Anyone got any idea as to why?

Blown fuse? Probably some of the wiring isn't right, check this recent thread:

You didn't connect the green-white cable perchance?
also could be a bad grounding and it would be shorting out try putting on a new and better ground might help

ITS A FUSE!
I see it happen ALL the time. You would have shorted out the power wire on a ground or something which causes the interior fuse to blow. The fuse is in your engine bay in the fuse box. It'll be nice and blown :).

Fuse is always the first thing to look.
had the same problem in my 300zx before i knew much about installing HU and such, joined the parkers light lead from the stock unit to the ground of the HU:doubt: , as you can imagine a fuse blew and i had alot of strange problems, no need to mention i have learnt alot since then :D

Fuse was the first thing i thought of also, mate put in a new one and it blew instantly so i spose my wiring is dodgey, ill check it out.

There you go, you've got a power wire touching ground somewhere most likely. Did you make sure all your connections were covered up?

Pretty sure i covered all bare wires, though i was in a bit of a hurry. Ill have a look see when i get a chance, cheers.

Id say what you have done is use the standard earth in the wiring harness for the head unit... Trying getting a new each straight to the frame in the dash somewhere for the head unit and alot of the time that will fix your problem..:P
