hI yall
I was wondering if anyone could help me out with a gear box conversion (Auto to Manual) currently I drive a kr verada-auto and would like to convert it to manual.
I already have a donor car Tr V6 wagon-manual (dam good/quick car, but written off over costly minor damage.)
I have been quoted bout $2k, partly because the price involves changing over the wiring loom.
What I was wondering was, is it possible to keep the old auto-loom and wire-out some of the things, making it possible to function with the old loom eg. Wire out various sensors, trick the loom into thinking that the car is always in ‘N’ etc.
Will this work? has anyone ever done anything like it before?
Any help appreciated
Thanks

Not sure about 2nd gens, but 3rd gen manual ecu's are slightly different with fuel maps etc. Someone will explain it better than i can. You would benefit if you just replaced all that sh!t from the donor car.

Thanks For the input M4DDOG
I would change everything over but funds are a bit low @ the moment  (Saving for a KTM :D ) and swapping all the stuff over from the other car is going 2 be a bit 2 pricy for me atm
it appears there is not to many sensors attached to the gearbox and the ones that are there seem to have reasonably simple functions.
I have got a feeling that the M/T & A/T have different CPU’s
I’m not entirely sure tho, can someone please confirm this??
Ever if they have different CPU’s, what would they do different? (would the engine still run?)
Can any1 think of anything else (eg sensors different CPU’s) that might effect the performance of the engine?
Comments and help welcome!
THanks

should there be all that much change in wiring really?
im converting my car to manual next weekend, and all i have to do wiring side of things is change some stuff so it starts without being in park (seeing how i wont have park anymore n all..)
wouldve thought the same theory would go for most cars that arent tiptronic?

The ECU are the same, but the only difference is the fuel mapping for the ato. I just finished my conversion and it only took a day, just got to trick the ecu by allowing it to think that it still has the auto g/box ecu by splicing a few wires that is connected to the auto g/box harness. you dont need the auto g/box ecu after the wire has been spliced.

Ok i know this is an old thread but....
i am going to convert my soon to be ks verada wagon to manual. and couldn't find any good info.
who has done it?,
Buff was talking about a cam shaft or something being different?
Will the box go straight on?
i know the clutch area needs to be drilled out. and the loom spliced, but do i need anything at all extra?
Cheers for the help..as i am serious about this and im saving money now..

You need also to change the water pipe that runs under the inlet manifold as the manuals have 2 pipes. That's so it clears the select lever ( where the gear change cable connects too ) if you don't the lower radiator hose gets in the way.
You can cut the select lever shorter but than you need to drill a hole and get a bolt so you can connect the gear change cable back on.After all that drama the gear change cable need to be readjusted. The auto and manual motors are the same, just take the drive plate off from the auto motor and your flywheel will bolt on no problems. Some v6 autos have 25 tooth splined drive shafts where as v6 manuals have 27 tooth splined that's according to the factory workshop manual.
