no rubbing or scrubbing anywhere on anything, just gotta get the right rim width and offest...

they either really thin then or stick out of the guards?

andrewd
20-07-2006, 04:42 PM
they are 7.5" wide and they dont stick out they sit nicley in so they will tuck under the guards, 8.5" would have fit too

Dee
20-07-2006, 04:47 PM
you got 20s on 7.5? are they gestalt?

wooley

andrewd
20-07-2006, 04:49 PM
yeah they are bsa somethings.. 20x7.5" 45p they come in an 8.5" too but it's a bit of a strech for a 225... drives nicley now...

Dee
20-07-2006, 04:51 PM
mmm
another one rolling on 20s.. they just dont look big anymore.... time to upgrade :D

andrewd
20-07-2006, 04:59 PM
trust me they are plenty wide enough, fitted they equal a 235 that was mounted on a 17" rim that i was comparing while i was waiting, question is how low to go now, i have 45mm low springs but that is not going to cut it, wonder if i can compress the fronts 20mm and rears 10mm, that'll do for now

andrewd
20-07-2006, 05:24 PM
as in have money $$$ no far from it, but the car was cheap as and the 20's brand new and brand new tyres and lowered inc alignment cost 3k, im still a few $000 better off than if i had have brought a reasonable 2nd hand falcon or commodore, so im happy

thats awesome that you found a set only 7.5" wide! i seriously cant see you having any more scrubbing problems than being lowered on the stock VRX rims!

Good work dude.. I couldnt find any 8.0" wheels when i was looking for my 20`s and you show up with 7.5"s.. nice work.. Least the 225 is the right tyre for the rim unlike a 225 on 8.5 inch rim.. Sif you would..:P

andrewd
21-07-2006, 05:35 PM
thanks for ur comments, im glad some ppl dont like them, thats why there's variety... im still into the chromies, my last car was a diff look... just wish they were bigger but 22's just wont go on it.... could do with some more lowering cos it dosent rub even on full lock and it rides pretty good, so i might chop some coils off :)

see attachment, old car

yeah definately! looks a little tacky at the moment, if the skirts, door moulding and handles were colourcoded, it would look 100% better

Hmm, chrome 20"s looks a little too "bling bling hip to the hop" for my taste. The magna body style looks better dressed up with Euro Touring car wheels..eg: OZ racing wheels.

thats going to be the problem.... some cop who has a bad day no matter the legalities .... any way i've talked to vic roads and got a vehicle modification manual and there is only one reason to defect the wheels on my car, tyre load rating thats it, the rims conform to all the other standards set out by vic roads eg, wheel load rating rim with wheel diameter track etc... but my tyres are just one rating below what the vehicle manufacture specifies, which im told is pretty high anyway..

Dude, just saying "i'm told the load rating provided is pretty high anyway" is naive and stupid. You're driving around with illegal tyres on your car, and ones not made to handle the load. If you are insured and have an accident, the insurance company can decide the tyres were the fault and completely void your insurance. Probably something you should of thought about before.

damn, i'd better put some suspension in then, the wheels and tyres are the least of my worries... if the load rating is a huge issue, i can get an eng cert, i have done it before for minitrucks, and considering my tyres are within 10kg of the factory specs it'll be fine... thanks

Thats not all your worries. The wheels cannot be 2" bigger in diameter then the largest
optioned (17" was the largest optioned). You also cannot go more than 1" wider than stock
of 6". You'll find you have voided your insurance.

My insurance company knows i have 7.5" wide wheels they said they will cover them utpo 8" wide on my Magna, any bigger and my insurance ins't void they just don't cover the wheels...

This was told directly to me over the phone :)

It works a little different in vic, there is no such 2" larger rim rule, only the overall diameter of the wheel and tyre cannot increase by 15mm, which would be hard to do with 20" rims anyway.
As for the 1 inch wide rule, again vic roads states "The widest rim available in that model or series". Which was 16x7, so he can legally go 8 inch wide. Not sure how wide he said they were though?

Until they deem the wheels contributed to the accident.

Thats as useful as sand to an arab. You need it on paper.

So your saying im wasting my money on insurance? becos i got better things to spend it on! :)

I don't think they give much of a rats *** they never complained about the 18" chromies on my brothers proton when he wrote it off, or the cut superlows they just handed him the money (and it was his fault)...
