As above, my take off use to be alot quicker, all of a sudden noticed that its lagging alot, check my oil in the trans and it was very low, searched around with a torch noticed the red trans oil leaking from somewhere. The car is old, the trans is the original and I need a exchange or re-cond one.

I have done some calling and only asked about a re-cond one for my TR magna, get quoted around $1000 - $1400 for it. I heard that you can get exchanged models for about $600ish

Anyone done the exchanged models?

Can ppl suggest some places or company's to call in Melbourne

Thanks, this auto box is ****tin me

I have actually been viewing my engine bay very closely and after touching the oil I cannot tell whether its Red (trans) or Black (Engine). Both dipsticks record nice fresh proper colours but I have found two hoses which connect from on top of the transmission to the radiator?

Anyone know what these are? I will try to take a photo and hopefully I can buy the parts and do it myself at home.

thats a good sign that the auto internally is in good shape

so you might like to try and get a kickdown band adjustment and a fault diagnosis from the people you found before thinking the worst

the two hoses are automatic oil cooling hoses
a very important connection so the oil doesnt get over heated
and the auto box hould also have an automatic oil cooler in the system as well small little radiator in front of the radiator
if it doesnt it might be a wise investment
if the leak is only at the drive shaft the cv joints only have to come out a very easy job to replaces those seals

Thanks magna buff appreciate your comments and messages.. I found somewhere closer will get them to view it this week.

Well drove the car to the Automatic transmission joint and he checked the oil, it was fine and on a good level, then he tested it and felt exactly what I was talking about.

The top gear is screwed but the rest should be fine.

Only problem is gotta wait there booked out till next monday, thats when I drop it off and they will test it (run it throught the computer) and go for there..

$50.00 for that and hopefully to fix not too much, I want to get a new'er model magna not keep paying money for this one only need it for the next 5months before i upgrade

Wholesale Automatics offer an 2 year unlimited km warranty to all non commercial retail customers and a 1 year unlimited km warranty to all trade and commercial inquiries.

you have to wait till the computer diagnosis might just be electical
first gear may mean a solenoid replacement a pulse generator a throttle position adjustment a transmission control problem

if the box has to come out it is a group of clutch and friction plates in the rear clutch assembly (the oil should be brown and burnt if that has failed )

Thats a good sign then the oil is red, but he said it was 'top gear' that is very slow in moving - he said he had the same car come in the other week and it was the TPS which was giving it issues.

I dont want to replace the whole gearbox just get this fixed so it lasts me a while again before I can save some more and get what I want
