Hi I am having trouble changing my timing chain I am stuck at the air con, does anyone have a idea how to removed it easily without getting to the point of just cutting the whole thing out. I don't think I need to change the chain I think it is just the guide. my year is 1994 sedan

I assume a 2.6? Get a timing chain kit, you don't want to spend all that time getting in there and not do it. They are around $150 and include everything you will need, including tensioners, gaskets etc. The A/C compressor bracket is a pain in the *** to get to, from memory, I had to remove the compressor from the bracket, then remove the bracket. There are 4 bolts that bolt the compressor bracket to the block, and you have to get to them from underneath the car, between suspension and firewall.
I hope you have a workshop manual, otherwise get one. There are quite a few things that have to happen to get to the chain.
It''s a big job, but not terribly difficult. If you have the money, replace the belts too, it's dead easy while you have it apart, a **** if you don't.......

Regards, Andrew.

ok like typoon said ur better off buying a kit which replaces eveything except ur cogs. ur chains might look ok but with time they could of streched thats why we suggest the whole kit ebay has them for $99 for rob at ringwood auto parts(ebay store). now on changing the timing components dont forget to check ur oil pump most ppl replace that at the same time.
now when doing ur timing chain theres 2 ways- 6-8hrs with the engine in car and 3-4hrs with it out. if i was in ur shes id take the engne out makes it alot easyer. oh and dont forget u might need to do the timing chain cover seal when ur putting it back together.
air-con compresser should just be four nuts then pull it off.

here's the kit http://cgi.ebay.com.au/MITSUBISHI-MAGNA-TM-to-TP-PAJERO-TIMING-KIT-NEW_W0QQitemZ4615407968QQihZ002QQcategoryZ10400QQc mdZViewItem

thats strange ur profile says 1994 tn magna but they dont exist. TN models were 1988-89
ur mus be either tr(19991-94) or ts(1994-96). so is urs 4 or 6 cly ?
