i just added an amp and sub to my system in the corolla last night but ive found 2 issues with it..
1. the sub makes a low rumble when it shouldnt (ie. when the song is paused) and continues this underneath the notes it is playing
2. the amp has a remote sub level control...which doesent work...any ideas?

lol Wheres magnat when you need him
gain could have something to do with it, you dont want gain all the way even if your sub can handle it, just throw us some settings so i (and others who know more about me about this) can have a looksies

found your problem :bowrofl:
i did a quickish search on CAA, try re checking your grounding points making sure there is a really good metal to metal contact point, apart from that, all ive gathered is it could be your RCA's to close to the power wire, or crappy RCA's or even some wrong setting on the HU

if it doesnt do it with the rcas unplugged its your rcas or your headunit. just roughly change the rcas to see if this is the problem

had the same problem with an amp i got off ebay (not very smart) it was the ground, like a ground loop i guess need to get one of those noise filters or something to help out, in the end it was just a bad amp so i didn't really bother to much but still hope this helps to test your a RCAs you could get the amp connected to an ipod/cd player or like and see if you have to same sound with them if not then its your headunit if so could be your RCA or power wiring (power or earth) spend a bit of time and you should fined it
yeah, if it doesn't do it with ur RCA's unplugged, its either coming from the headunit and/or RCAs. Re-route RCA's and if that fails, test using another source (eg ipod, laptop, waklman) hooked up to RCAs. Also check the ground on ur headunit.
With the remote gain control, it is just a simple linear potentiometer (a variable resistor). You might need to pull it apart and check the connections between the terminals. If they're all ok, go out to dick smith/jaycar or something and find yourself a potentiometer with the same resistance. Make sure you get a LINEAR , SINGLE GANG one. You only need one gang.
