hi i was just wondering if el gauges on a 3rd gen are simply face plates place on top over the standard cluster. or is it like a whole new cluster.

just goes over the top

it just goes ontop of the old ones. when installing it you can take the needles of as long as ou remember wat position the were on befor or you can just slip then on by bending them a bit.
