Hi guys need some advice and opinions.
I currently own a 93' TR Magna 4cyl Manual
I don't really like the color, and the body has some damage on it I am reluctant to fix.
to my questions;
should I sell my TR and buy a decent 2nd gen in a color that I like and spend $$$ working on that
or
sell my TR and purchase a decent semi-worked on 3rd gen for under 10g
input would be appreciated.

3rd gen for the win, more power and better looks.
if you ever go to sell the 2nd gen done up.. be harder to find a buyer than a 3rd gen done up.. 2nd gens are getting pretty old now.

yeah i so love my car after i beat a vs commodore a vl turbo and kept up with the vn that was going hard. at a set of lights the vns passanger was so suprissed that i kept up and asked what mods id done. i told him that it was stock 4 cyl manual and then they were bagging the driver of the vn cause he was nearly beaten by a magna. lol just wait till i get the turbo  .
but its your choice. if you like your car now i see no point in getting another one as you will remember this car too much

Am in a similar situation with a very clean TS 4 cyl, but haven't made my mind up yet.
One question... when you say "do it up" are you doing the labour yourself or paying someone?
If paying someone I wud think strongly about just buying a 3rd gen as labour costs are too expensive to do up an old car.
Doing it yourself gives you a feeling of "ownership" and "satisfaction" as well as saving buckets of money.
Hope that helps.

ahh aswell, if he chooses to mod it himself, if he screws it up in a huge way, its not going to matter cause its not a 3rd gen worth like $6K...
again, if you like 3rd gens, and are willing to part with the money to get a decent one and do a few mods to it, why not? IMHO 3rd gens are too common, even done up, thats why i love my maggie so so much!
If you like the 2nd gens alot better, you can get a good V6 give or take for about $3500...leaves you with a fair amount to spend on just about anything really....massive stereo....DOHC transplant....the list is endless.....
MY OPINION would be to get a V6 manual or auto (whatever) and do that up, i love seeing 2nd gens done up as they are becoming rare nowadays!
Good luck with your decision mate...

How did you manage that with a stock 4 cylinder

Reliability wise - get the 3rd gen
Satisfaction wise - get the 2nd gen
I bought a KR to restore, and honestly I prefer to drive the KR than my KE! Also having fun restoring the KR.

cars are a waste of money.
