Welcome to Magna Car Audio my son.

Stick pieces of Dynamat to the back of it???? j/k

Basically there is not much you can do, save supergluing the mirror so you cannot move it. Painful when someone else gets into the car.

I had blue tac in my TR mirror, in the join bit, got a permanent marker and coloured it in black. Worked a treat :).

Not sure whether this technique applies to your particular mirror but we sometimes place a small piece of rubber between the mirrow and the glass.:)

How can you possibly hear your rear view mirror shake?? As soon as i turn up the volume my rear vision mirror pikes and anngles down, which makes it really annoying to be driving around with. Anyways i cant hear the rear vision mirror over the boot lid and every only panel on my car :P

2nd gen one just falls down. 3rd gen one stays there and shakes like crazy, it also vibrates the windscreen which can be heard VERY loudly from OUTSIDE the car  .

it worked for 2nd gen, but not sure about 3rd gen as it's the actual contact with the windscreen that causes that vibration, maybe you stopped the mirror vibrating it might help, worth a shot :). I haven't tried to kill mine yet, the actual noise inside isn't too bad yet, like someone else said i just turn the music up lol.

from what i can tell.. it is the mirror itself that rattles.. which in turn goes to the windscreen and makes it worse.. ive held it before and it stops.. so maybe.. just maybe.. the blue tak idea may apply to 3rd gens as well..

I got fed up with my mirror vibrating and rattling one day just after I'd been to maccas so I screwed up a sausage and egg mcmuffin wrapper and wedged it between the top of the mirror and the window. That was over a year ago and it hasn't rattled since. It's ugly as hell of course but the theory is sound. One day I'll change it over for something a little more sensible.

is it legal to drive with out one if i crash can my inshurances be knocked back?i just keep the mirror under the seat if i crash it must of fell off on impact(just in case)

Not sure on that one, i know if you have 2 side mirrors you can black out your rear window making the rear view mirror redundant anyway. So possibly?

sometimes when its loud enough it doesn't even matter if your mirror is rattling or not, because you CAN'T see!

Legally you have to have two rear view mirrors in a car that are visible. If you only have a mirror on the right side like some crappy small older cars, thats fine if the centre mirror isn't blocked. If you have someones boof head in the backseat in the way, then you're technically illegal.

Now for a motorbike it is also two mirrors, the left and right mirrors. Now for a car I dare say that it is illegal not to have the rear view vision mirror in place, but techically it would be ok to have the left one broken off if the centre and right ones are unimpeded. You'd still get defected for it, but you could argue the case! The safest option is to devise some way of attaching it yourself. If the cars came with 1000w subbies originally the rear view mirrors may have been better affixed!

i had the same problem in my car. my solution was... sit at traffic lights with music going... feel something hit my leg, look on my floor, see my rear view mirror, pick it up and look at back of it notice the four plastic arms things on it are all broken, throw it on back seat.
am still yet to replace it. never had any problems with police about it either.

Theres a screw at the back of the mirror for 2nd gens.

take the mirror of the roof. Use a screwdriver and tighten that screw extremely tight. Like insanely, till ur arm hurts tight.

I tried blutac and papers and the rest of that, nothing worked.
tightened the screw and it worked perfectly.

3rd gens dont have a screw to tighten, so i hade to use paper wedged against the mirror for the new car.. so far its working nicely..

yeah i did the screw as well still rattles at low volumes but just crank the volume. but i cannot see the p plate on the back window the thing moves so much when you turn it up.

btw ive got a maple leaf air freshiner on the mirror and when you turn it up it dances on the knob thing to go to night mode on the mirror...look she dances :bowrofl: :bowrofl: :bowrofl:
