im putting a new head unit and speakers in my first gen.
now i was wondering if anyone could tell me what this little sun sign means on the instruction sheet. and if its needed for the install.
here's the scan of it. if its too small ill host it and put it up again.

ok sorry it was so small this might be better. now can u tell me what the 2 signs are. i thought the one on the right was the earth.

mate thats tiny.
Well its not power or acc (from what i can see). So that leaves electric aerial or maybe even remote wire, hard to tell from such a small diagram.

It is hard to see on such a tiny image but it looks like an earth symbol to me.

Looks like dimmer to me, but if you have power, ACC and earth, thats all you need (and/or remote wire for an amp, and wire for the electric aerial)

so you should be fine without it

The brown wire is earth and I'd say the sun symbol means lights, so that it's display dims when you turn your lights on:D

the illumination wire is suppost to connect up to your +terminal on a dash light... it just dimms the head unit so it doesnt glare in your eyes of a night time.... but i wouldnt bother i dont know anyone that would use it... if it was done profesionally they wouldnt install it either..

nah you shouldn't need it to install..it would be an illumination light for the unit..
so its up to you whether you hook it up or not..

Picture like a sun is for the dash illumination circuit.

Connected to the dash lights, it will thendim the radio display when the dash lights come on, alternative is to connect to the parking light circuit.
Will have the same effect.
Note how the wire is dashed to indicate that it is an optional connection.
