What 3rd gen is worth the price, they are getting cheap now and I am looking at upgrading soon.
Between $5000 - $7500
I have been checking out carsales and there are some good looking ones in this price range, but I want to hear what problems you have all had?
Which Auto is better TE TF TJ ?? Which Engine is Better ?
Thing's like that, whether to try and fine one with 100,000 or 150,000 with the major service done....
Any help advice welcomed

Probably go a TH. TJs are more obviously as their newer, TE had some auto issues originally, apparently sorted by TF but TH would probably be your best bang for your buck. Go a 3.5 if you can find one.

The guy who bought my old verada is overseas so is desperate to sell.
I would move in and make a offer of like 7500 - 8000, you never know.
It's on carsales, see verada for 9500 or check my profile to see the pic. (another pic also my avatar)
I spent about 4000 on that car including pacies, dual exhausts plus my tv/dvd

Yeah TH would be good if you can find a 3.5 under your budget. But I'd go for an upper-specced TF model like the Altera/Altera LS. It's a 3.0L but the good'ol 6G72 V6 has a sound you could never get sick of! Plus you've got dual airbags, cruise, power windows, ABS, most have alloys (though I suppose you'd pop your own on!) and some have CD.
Here's a smart looking example on carsales.com:

Found another one..
for $5,400 for a TF Altera
The question is now, what the hell do I do with my stock TR? (If I bought it from a Dealer least I could trade it in, but I dont trust dealers)
try and sell it as whole (as it still goes fine and would make a good first car) or as parts??
p.s it hasnt had a wash, just then went and taken those pics

How many kms on the TR?
I traded mine in on my new car, managed to knock off $2k but the sales guy said he was losing money on the trade but needed the car gone as it wasn't selling.
Privately you're looking at a TF/TH 3.0L, maybe a high km 3.5L.
I would go an upper spec TF like someone else said, because if you manage to score a 3.5L in that price bracket, i guarrantee there'll be problems with it!
The main thing to look out for is:
-Check oil, make sure it doesn't look burnt
-Get them to start the car up, should start up in less than 3 "ticks".
-Listen for any ticking noises on startup, and then whilst the motor is running. The hydraulic lifters in these can go around the 120-160k km mark, while not being overly expensive to fix, will eat $4-500 out of your pocket. Something to factor into the price anyway :).

Yeah my TR has done a good 289,000 Kms, whilst not running bad but the high amount puts people off.
I might try and sell it cheap, I'm happy with $1500 for it (mind you if some one knew what they were doing could sell the brand new parts for more) or would make a nice car for a 17yr old.
I'm after a TF, and by what you said I'll stick to a 3.0
I dont want something with high K's, im looking around the 140,000 to max 170,000
I gotta make sure the Auto box is in good condition, before I buy anything i'll get it Racv tested

Trade in you might get $500 if your lucky. But then you can bargain them down with sales margins etc. privately, $1000, maybe $1500 if it's in excellent condition.
Also i forgot to mention verada, KE or KF, you might be able to get a KE/KF in that price range, that will have a 3.5L. But yeh you still have to watch the condition and KE's can surprisingly hold their value when they're in good condition (dealers still wants $10k plus lol).
