Hi
Does anyone have a "fix it" for poor radio reception in the TJII Wagons (standard radio - CD player).
I have replaced the aerial mast in power unit (bent). Checked the mast earth to the screw and to the body, all seems ok.
Is there an earth from the radio unit that might be loose. If so does any one know where?
...... Also I should have up in 3rd Gen Topics, a pic and description soon of a simple tool I have made to remove the connector on the back of the head light globe. ......
Removes them in 10 secs, no bruises, scrapped knuckles, hours lost, sore thumbs and bad words.
Hope you can help
Cheers

I have replaced my stock TJ radio twice in 3 years. The first time was because the FM signal was really fuzzy. Took three visists to dealership for them to acknowledge that there was a fault with the radio. The new stock radio lasted 18months (out of warranty) and then the FM signal dropped out completely. In both cases cd player and AM were still okay. I believe there is a component fault with those clarion radio's
Needless to say, I didn't go back for a third helping of cr@p radio. Got a nice JVC in there now.

Hi Monster Inc
Many thanks that's exactly what mine is doing, good CD and AM, fuzzy FM
How did you get your JVC to connect to the auto aerial and the mitsi plug?

Aerial coax plug should be standard... like a mini cross between a ciggy lighter plug & a banana plug?

Bingo, went straight in. I used two quick connectors to get the rest of the wires hooked in. fitted up easy. Only problem is that the aerial stays up now when CD player is on but Still goes down when the unit switches off so I'm happy enough.

Your headunit should have a wire for the electric aerial so that it only comes on when you have the radio playing.
