i know i posted this in the hall of fame section, but u can't comment in there!

just picked mine back up from Tonkins, they did an awesome job! photo's dont really do it justice but heres a few anyway. all the stock trims that are still visable have been re-carpeted in the same stuff all the panels were done in.

the sub enclosure is fibreglass and moulded behind the taillight area, and the capacitors look much nicer all clean and no mounting brackets.

i already had all the components, so they installed it all neatly for me (yes, practibility was the main objective)

all up it was $1500, which included all material, extra wiring etc and labour (which was about a weeks work)

and yes, thats an Alpine Type-X 12" and damn, for one sub they make a lot of noise, but sound sweet as doing it! i dont really "like" caps much either, but i guess they dont really do any harm and i've had them for a while now, so seemed like a waste not getting em fitted anyway

sub location should be good...

very nice install!

Thumbs up!

you may want to invest in some sub protection even a simple bar near the front of it to stop luggage/shopping/tied up people doing any damage to your gear

Looks neat as. You should be proud. One of the most effective, and most intelligane boot installs ive ever seen.

Oh btw, whats access to the spear tire like?

Asylum

access to the spare is pretty easy, only small issue is i have to remove the jack first, then slide it out that way, which is probably only because i have a full sized spare.

Which Tonkins?
The one down Elizabeth way? They do a pretty sweet job! Were heaps of help for me, even though most of it was just advice.

Is that Alpine subwoofer a enclosure sub or open boot design, just trying to work out if what you have is a boxed system, if so i would love to get them to do something like that for my 2X10" pioneers or even try building that for my car, although i dont think i could get it to look as sweet as their setup. Awesome setup mate it looks mad!!!!! :bowrofl:

yeah i thought about giving it a go myself, but theres no way i could have come close to what they have done!

the back of the sub box is fibreglass, moulded with MDF sides so if fits nice and snug in the corner, taking up as much space as possible (the TypeX are VERY deep!)

that looks really really really good man.nice and neat and not a wire in sight. wat do you use to light up the inside of your boot? white neon?

i like it alot, only one thing i was thinking, because the sub is firing sideways does it change the bass at all or does it still go into the cabin nicely

Asylum

no lighting yet, i think it just looks bright as i was using over-exposure on the camera because it was pretty dark outside. will be investing in some red neons to hide up under the parcel shelf soon, might even trim the underside because the white metal stands out like crazy now!

and ts3.0, yes the sub being there has changed the bass hugely, but in a good way! it used to be behind the back seat, firing backwards, but the whole area behind the back seat was blocked off with 25mm MDF (so 5cm thick total!) and there was very little bass getting into the cabin. now theres heaps of low-volume response (something i was missing greatly) and due to the different box size, the gains have been turned up slightly and goes much louder than before at high volume!

Have they put some mdf on the bottom as well, over the top of your sapre wheel enclosure?
that how they put it all together and got it to stay?

Best boot install ive seen yet.

Top notch effort by the guys who made it.

And i must say, it looks like it was worth every penny.

As Tim said, get a grill or something on that sub mate..

yeah the entire floor piece was replaced with new MDF and a cut-out for the spare wheel, so i'd guess the bottom of the box is MDF too, i havent really pulled it out to see how it all goes together, i dont wanna mess any of it up! :D

and if anyone knows of a neat grill i could screw over the sub, let me know. could be a good investment! (although, carbon fibre is meant to be strong isn't it!? )

They did a neat job didnt they. very nice!!! I can see why you scared to go poking around, lol it looks so good at the moment. Why you need a grill for your amp?
