I was wondering there really hasent been much discusion on this but when do head gaskets go on 3RD gens because i had a a TE but it never went in that and it had 300 plus km on it and has anyone chaged there head gaskets on there 3RD gens how hard is.

A head gasket change is not a job for a backyard mechanic - sorry, but unless you have been there before, I wouldn't reccomend it.
You have to take the head off (obviously), this require removal of the air intake hose, throttle cable, EGR, intake manifold, intermediate intake manifold (with injector rail and FPR), rocker covers, exhaust manifold, water inlet, timing belt, both heads.
Get heads checked for warping, machine (skim), probably reco heads (if you have time/money/need) and reassemble.
Mitsu gaskets are also expensive. Head gaskets are $300 a pair (!!) - Only use genuine gaskets too, I have had bad experiences with non-genuine on other cars.
Its pretty major (and expensive) surgery.
