heya guys,
planning some mods to the beast and next in line is to add driving lights, now i know next to bugger all about em so would appreciate any suggestions, tips and/or advice etc.,
the stock parabolics are pretty crappy on low beam, though the high beam is acceptable, so i would have the driving lights on all the while the low beams are on.
ive heard that ipf's are good spotties, though i dont know if they do driving lights.
was thinking of some smallish but still bright lights to go in on either side of the rego plate, mounted up underneath.
yes, hot knifing the front lip would allow for larger lights and better placement - but - in normal driving conditions (in a straight line!) i can brake and scrape the bottom of the front lip if i really try, so mounting additional lights in there might not be the brightest idea (pun intended:))
anyway, any contructive comments would be much appreciated.
cheers lee

how bout i swap u cars, cuz my TP has lots of nice spots to attach driving lights. That'll solve both our probs, u'll have some where to put ur lights and i'll have a much MUCH better car.
Tim
PS. It was a joke but if u wanna swap.......

Id be cutting into the left and right of the main bar.... not the little clip on lower lip.
you could put in twin rounds on either side... Smaller ones. ... haev one set for your Low beam... out to the side a bit more or somthing... and then the other set setup for long pencil beam...
I dont think lights work to well close together....? (imho) and I reckon they look funny close together as well I reckon

I'd be getting a bodykit supplier to make a mould of your front bar and chop that apart if your going to - and make a few copies of your front bar and flog them on here aswell! :D

Or don't bother with drive lights - all they do is $hit ppl off!!
but hey - if you need an installer to attack your front bar witha jigsaw and hot knife - you know where to reach me ;)
haha
Also - Hella have a great range of drive and spot lights - pricey but bloody good!!

The ralliart we saw at the mitsu factory had those small round driving lights sunk into the bar where it looks like there should be lights, actually made the front look quite good (I'm not a fan of it standard, too much plastic)

I agree with Malcolm, nothing I hate more than drivers who turn parkers on during the brightness of day...
Yes you Dan.

YES i agree i saw that and the round lights looked very goot they were small and you shouldnt have to cut your bar much. in fact if you hated them you could always get bigger holes cut and mesh them and it look stock :)

i wouldnt be having them on during the day, just on whenever the headlights are on :)
leaning towards just having a couple of small bright lights up underneath in the centre.
ricewise kinda leaning a little toward having a red light in behind the grille as well...

That's the whole point!!! It makes you take more notice. Driving on a sunny day (especially driving into the sun), which cars are easier for you to see?

Hey - i didn't say it doesnt make it easier to see in the right conditions!! I drive with my low beam on while taking trips through forresty roads where there are lots of shadows and also while the sun is going down - but it wasn't asked if it makes it easier to see!! haha
and also - 12 midday - middle of the day not a cloud in the sky and you go lights shining in your Rear view mirror!! Just as bad as shiny reflections off of chrome strips or mirrors when you drive past!!
Oh well - each to their own

If their lights are reflecting that badly during the day, then I'd guess that their lights are aimed incorrectly???

I ALWAYS dive with my lights on... Low beam...
During the day or night.
It helps other drivers to see you....
Id rather have my lights on during the day and "accidently" cause my light sto flash them .. (by goving overa bump or somerthing.. instead of having them run into me.

When the Volvo 240/260 (originally called the 244/264) was released, they had "daytime" lights. They used dual filament bulbs in the front parkers so that with the ignition on they had slightly brighter lights than normal parkers on.
Their reason behind was that it made the car more visible to all road users!
