Hi everyone

I'm from New Zealand and have a 1996 Diamante with the 3.0l 6G72 engine with a 5 speed tiptronic auto. It has done 75,000 km.
Lately when I shift into Drive there is about a 3-4 second delay before it engages. I have seen a few others have had this problem; have you solved it?

I just went to my local auto transmission place and they said that the whole gearbox would need to be replaced, something about a worn out pump or piston. Is this correct?

If anyone has any ideas or suggestions, this would be greatly appreciated.

Customer that came into work had this problem a couple of years ago. Was solved by adjusting the TPS from memory.
