Alrighty, I've seen interior panels with speaker pods looking like they were factory standard such as...
http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17452&page=2
but mine doesn't have them sob sob.. so where do I get me some of them!? Or can I play McGyver for an afternoon and fashion something out of a rubber band a paper clip and some gaffa tape?

Any thoughts / costs would be appreciated.

That would be from a KS verada my friend. Your best bet is to search around the wrecking yards for them. They are popular though so could be pretty hard to find.

Thanks,

Yeah, I also just discovered the 'search' feature and found a stack of previous posts about it, forgive my ignorance, I'm a new Magna owner.. of about 2 weeks...

the other option is to just whack on some vr/vs doorpods. They look alright on pretty much anything.

well, whats not the deal!

after owning a holden, and all my mates owning holdens, and many other people i know owning fords......and looking at how they are built, they are just crap.

Ford and holden have alot to learn when it comes to building a well made car. the Japs have been doing it for a LONG time now.

Ford and Holden are in there own little niche now because of the V8 supercars. believe me, if other car makers were allowed to enter the in the same races as the V8's, ford and holden would soon pick up their act.

well u have started a convo which i can get very heated about.

holdens are big, ugly, all look the same with few minor mods, bogans and shyt drive em and they hate jap cars i love my hondas and when ever i go on a honda cruise there is always a random holden that cruises past the meet spot and starts doin butouts we all lagugh that is a typical holden driver

btw they cant drive if u hadent noticed. :bowrofl:

cant believe how pathetically stereotyped that is really youve outdone yourself there, im sure every average joe family that own a commodore in the country are bogans that do burnouts at the sight of a honda club meet, really now come on that is rediculous, they are a very popular family car built for families in australia, all it takes is sales figures to show that its more than done that job no problems, and yes, i do know first hand having had my parents own 4 commodores, sure i know its a magna club but grow up

how about you go to a holden owner and see if they will fit a pair of mitsubishi door pods to their commodore?

who thinks TS3.0 will get told to stick it up his Ar$e by the holden owner?

I saw a ralliart sticker across the rear windscreen on a VS the other day :gtfo: .
i've also seen a holden sticker on a 1st gen magna going across the windscreen, double :gtfo: .

I think you have problems.

Japanese build quality vs Australian build quality in my own experience.

My gen 1 magna. I spent on average $300 a fortnight keeping it running.

My VP i have spent $300 in total to keep it running.

I had my magna for 18 months, that means that i spent just over $11000 to keep it going.

so :gtfo:

EDIT: Oh and BTW im not mitsubishi bashing. I would sell my VP straight away if i could get a starion turbo.

EDIT EDIT: Oh and also i previously mentioned that my other commodore, the VC, has mitsu horn and seatbelts off my old magna. So there goes your "stick it up your ****" theory.

i think if someone who owned a holden was into modifying their car and a set of verada door pods fitted the bill and were available they wouldnt be pathetic and not use them, theyd use whatever they can to make their car customised to their own taste both looks good and is functional,

for that matter in an old street commodres magaine i have there is a kick *** vl commodore that is heavily modified and uses rav 4 door cards because the owner liked the look of them, not because they came from a rav 4,

i really think you need to open your mind a bit

i managed to fit 6 1/2" cadence us6k splits in mine, but i had to make a door insert as a spacer for the grille to sit on. Now i have orange door inserts and u cant see the speakers as a thin layer of orange material covers them. The speaker grille is put over that thin layer so it's like your doors, except u cant see the speakers, and btw wtf is with puttin the crossover there?

Well done AMC members
A new member starts a thread about door speakers and you guys turn it into a shambles.
What are new members to think ?

Auximenies,
Anyway, most Verada parts will fit Magna's - some without mods - some with mods such as brackets or electrics - and some cheap and some expensive too. The search facility is your friend mate - failing that, post a question and hopefully it won't be railroaded again.

Oh, and although I didn't personally fit them... I have 6.5" speakers in my Verada door pods too. The Verada door pods are a great improvement.

*standing down*

i agree that it comes down to personal choice....but in my own opinion, if KR door pods will fit his speakers, why not use them instead of holden ones? they look alot nicer than the VR VS ones because the Rada ones follow the contours of the door.

i fitted Kappa Perfect 6.5'' splits with cross over in my panel, and soon to be fitting them into Rada pods with a bit of handy work.

Alrighty, I picked up some KR door panels because they had the pretty red 'im open' light on them, which begs the question HOW THE HECK DO I WIRE THEM... Apart from that they sure look purdy, and I'm gonna double check tomorrow but I think theres even provisions for the 'puddle light' under under the door... if you get the light I'm on about..

Anyhoo.. I don't really care where parts come from, as long as they fit easily, I'm not a car person really just faking it and so far so good. I've a 'fixer upper' that isnt actually as bad as that term makes it sound, just a few cosmetic things to touch up other then that its a fine v6 manual :D

As for wirring them in - I went to an Auto-Elec sparky. Mind you i still have to go back because some doors make all the lights go on and some doors only make that door light go on.

Alrighty, turns out I was wrong about the 'under under' lights, I had one of the panels upside down... now don't think I'm a moron but it was under another one turns out it was just one of the door latch pieces.

Yeah I grabbed the whole lot o' bits except for the loom plugs because the guy wanted extra for them :( but hey whats a bit of crimping between friends, I was wondering about making the lights function without other lights coming on / not coming on, I figure there has to be a way to make only the door open come on but it might be more involved then a simple 'wire it up to your interior lights' because then all of them would come on when the door is opened.

So is there then a seperate system or connection point for these lights because theres only really one wire to play with anyway, if anyone knows or has wired these up please chime in.

Alright, it is possible to do the wiring for a single door but it most likely involves wiring from the battery to all 4 doors, or tap into another power wire that doesnt matter if it dims a bit. You would have to have each door wired upto a seperate circuit for you to have it the way you want, not really hard, but very time consuming, if you need help let me know and i'll give you what information i can.

IMO - It'd be better to have all lights come on when you open any door.

Auximenies
03-08-2006, 12:37 PM
So to get them all to come on at once I'd just tap into the interior light circuit wouldnt i? since that would be the easiest way to do that. Probably far quicker to do it that way although not so fancy there again no-one would even really notice since by the time they get in and sit down the lights are off anyway :D

Although I'm fitting a dimming circuit so my interior lam stays on for a bit after the door closes then gently fades out so I can see wtf I am doing when I get in.

Auximenies
03-08-2006, 02:35 PM
Head over to jaycar costs 18 bucks I think, just wire it up to your parkers + interior light and that way if you flick your parkers on it goes off straight away, otherwise you can adjust the time it stays on for up to about a minute I think from memory.

It's a pretty sweet easy mod to do as well and adds a touch of class to a highly classy vehicle!
