heres a crap nokia pic of what i did today.... i got a set of KL colour coded door handles from mitsubishi and put them on my TJ... no hassles, looks a million times better and still have stainless strip.. i also managed to get rid of the passangers doorlock key thin no worries and all systems function as normal....

Cool. Been thinking of doing this to my TJ. Do you just tell them what colour you want and they supply them factory painted?? How much did it set you back if you don't mind me asking?

As far as i know TL vr-x models didn't have the chrome

Maybe so, but there is no chrome on any other part of the car. I think I'm ready to say goodbye to chrome all together.

Last I heard they were $250 each brand new.

Ive had TL VRX (no chrome strip) handles in my TH since 2004, dont know what the retail price is on them though cos i had a friend get me a set in mawson white when he was working for mitsi's spare parts.

Definately look better than the black standard handles on a white car. :)

All TL-TW door handles are colour coded, its just that the veradas had the chrome insert in them as you have stated.

TE-TJ2 models didnt have painted handles though. :D

I think you'll find that's normal for TJ sports and VRX variants. But I didn't think they were smooth like the TL/W ones..... I thought they had an "indentation" where the chrome strip would be on the other versions......

But I could be wrong.

$270 for door handles? lol I can think of a thousand other better things i could do with that money!

Yeah i got qouted $100 to paint all 4, haha just paint over the whole strip and all thats my way :P

i wouldn't mind getting my painted, and where the chrome stip it mine has a black strip

Take off the door-card which is easy and then you can get to the screws for the handle, pops out after undoing them :)

Edit: and contrary to everyone who thinks you need a special tool to remove the window winder (if its windey windows) just use an old t-shirt or some cloth and run it under the winder, pops off!
