guys,
i have been looking at FPRs(before you ask, i did search but couldn't find the answer i wanted) and i just don't get it. i understand that they keep a regular fuel flow to the engine, but will it help out my car. It has the exaust and intake package on it, but will a FPR help it get the juice flowing when i plant it. i know that a magna already has one, but i want to start future proffing now(i want cams/lighter pullies within the next couple of months).

the one that i am looking at is this one:

Hey mate, im not sure about the FPR in the link as i cant view the site at work, although the FPR is usually installed with turbo and s/c setups, well you benefit the most from an FPR if u have a turbo or supercharge setup, although ppl who do buy one without these forced induction setups usually purchase one for flat spots through the rev range, so if installed correctly and its a decent product the FPR will help when you plant your foot down, also helps with fuel efficiency in some cases!!

you might wanna post in the Philcom Rally section, i know they were getting them from www.rpw.com.au, just let them know your after one and they will give you a quote!!

cheers

What your after mate is a rising rate fuel pressure regulator, a Malpassi or FSE, with a 1.7:1 ratio, that is, for every 1psi of air, 1.7 psi of fuel will be added. Helps when you've done breathing mods such as extractors, exhaust and intake.

If you're interested in getting the one recommended for the V6 magna's you're better off just contacting RPW directly, as phillcom rally is no longer a RPW distributor - and hence cannot offer a better deal than you would get dealing with RPW direct.

Alternatively you can source one from a different distributor (I know phillcom rally can supply FPR's if you want to support the site sponsors), but you will not get a fuel rail adaptor which will fit our cars with it.

It's also worth mentioning that the unit RPW recommends is a 1.7:1 rising rate FPR. You can get aftermarket FPR's which are 1:1 (work the same as stock - but you have control over the base pressure) or 2:1 (I think) which is probably overkill for a NA engine.

As someone who has the RPW FPR Kit installed - I can definetly say I think it made a difference, but I think you would be disappointed if you tried to justify the purchase with before and after dyno runs......... I feel it is more of a "throttle response" improvement rather than a "peak horsepower" improvement.
