I just picked up my 2000 VRX last Friday, & I'm wondering if it's worth changing the muffler? It looks to be nearly straight through with an offset, but it doesn't have much of a note.

While RPW recommends a Lukey, I was thinking of a Shorty-style turbo muffler with 2.5-3 inch tip, but then thought it would look a little RICE on a magna... even one as phat lookin as it is. Getting that tinny noise was also a CON. I don't want it anywhere near loud, I just want to be able to hear the damned thing is running! Any thoughts?

get a decent pod filter and CAI setup and some extractors and your car will definitly have more growl to it!!

I like not hearing mine at idle - and at cruising speed - but when i give it a bootfull - well she roars!!

ive got a vrx as well performance wise ive heard there really isnt any point in changing the muffler your better off moding the extractors. as for the note yes it gets a little tinny when it revs hard but when just using a little more acceleration than normal or cruising at high speeds you get a nice rumble.

get someone else in the car on a long street stand about 30-40 metres in front of the car then get them to just floor it (warn them of torque steer) the car gets DAMN loud.

As they said. The VR-X and Lukey both come from Walker. There should be a gain but it probably won't be noticeable / quantifiable. Use the money on headers.
