Need some help, I've got a 2002 TJ series 2, 3.5.

Problem is car starts runs for about 1 second then stops, go to start again and all is fine.
Will do this about 1 in every 4 starts hot or cold, car drives ok not lacking power or running rough.
checked plugs, airfilter, ECU codes
I have cleaned the IAC motor, problem is more common after cleaning, was stalling before i cleaned it. After installing the IAC idle was high about 1100rpm in neutral, i turned the idle screw down so it can idle at 700rpm.
I need to know what position the idle screw needs to be in, at the moment its about 3 full turns
out from closed position so i can put it back to factory specs and look else where.
I'm sure the idle screw should not have been touched

Help would be greatly appreciated.

A new battery stopped ours doing the same thing (stopping after running for a second or so, then starting and running).

Same here. Mine was doing exactly the same thing. I got a new battery as i heard this can cause this and it fixed the problem.

As for the screw, doesnt really matter too much where it is. Just put it where you like it and the car will automatically adjust.

You can have it right in or right out and the car will eventually bring the idle back to where it wants it automatically.

Replacing a perfectly good battery seems strange, battery has plenty of power, will try another battery i hope this works
