Hey guys,
I'm just curious, would it be possible at all to modify a stock alarm in a TJII to make a siren go off the same time the horn does? It would simply be a wire wouldn't it that get's grounded by the stock alarm? Shouldn't be too hard to attach a siren?

The horn does a good enough job. No one listens to alarms anyway. You would be better adapting a glass break sensor to the existing system.

Is it easy to modify the existing system? I'm looking at getting a decent alarm but have been told it can be tricky with my car.

You can get 'piggy back' alarms, the use your existing remotes etc etc.

If you piggyback the alarm, then if you go to beep someone it will sound the alarm aswell :bowrofl:

You also need to check that horn relay has a suitable amp rating to drive both units, if not another relay will be needed.

Are you on drugs?

Cyclops have one that works with the Magnas - Seafood has it. It works, the alarm doesn't go off when you press the horn.

Fool.

lol as funny as that sounds, i'll make sure i wire into the horn/alarm relay. If it cant handle it, i'll do what you say and make another relay, should be ok though.

Chill dude, the question was specifically

would it be possible at all to modify a stock alarm in a TJII to make a siren go off the same time the horn does?

If he wires it in series or parrellel to the horn then from my basic understanding of electronics is that it will sound when the horn is used at all :)

On second thought, if you wire it in series then it will be fine.

can you bypass it completely and get a whole new system?

I think it's pretty hard with the magna as the immobiliser is connected to the barrel/ecu.

Guys a decent alarm will set you back under $600 installed, this will get you shock, ultrasonics, boot bonnet door protection, passive arming, aus standards, siren, battery backup, remotes and everything you would ever need short of paging and tracking all professionally installed

Spend the extra $100 for peace of mind. I recommend mongoose m80s, viper, clifford etc.

And for an extra $100 or so the alarm can be un/resinstalled if you ever change cars

As I have a fair bit of audio gear; security has been one of my best upgrades. I no longer need to worry about my gear.

Peace

Tim

where can one obtain this upgrade? And is that $400 with install or just the actual unit itself?

Just wondering, is there a way to install the cd-player security LED into another place of the car?

If you dont mind a bit of drilling then you could relocate it anywhere so long as you extended and ran the new wires in a tidy manner away from anything moving.
