Thought i better start a new thread for this one. Bob Jane claims there are no 19" 95+ load rated tyres available from the 10 manufacturers they have rung. I've heard people on hear claim thats not true. As far as i can tell from what i've looked up is that there are no tyres that can legally go on a Magna for 19x8 rims.

245/35-R19 tyres load rated to 95+, speed rated R+

from what i've search here. Ford Man has said their are 3 manufactures that stock these tyres:
Winli - Website down, can't find any tyres, couple reviews have been very very bad
Yokahama - been through their entire range and nothing
Linglon (sp?) - Can only find a link to 4WD tyres

For others interest there are 20" tyres that are 95
There are wider tyres that are legal 255/35-R19 (too wide for 19x8 to fit under guards)
There are taller tyres that are legal 245/40-R19 (changes rolling diameter - not good)

If i can't get bob jane to find a tyre that can go on some 19x8 i'll have to price up 18's again ;\ Man and i was gettin keen on the 19's too.

in WA

you can do any changes, but the Rolling Diameter must remain within 50mm i think it was and can't extend past the guards.

The only illegal thing is either they are too wide or less in load rating or speed rating.

We really should have a Proper topic about this with all the legalities from each state, load ratings and speed ratings.

the legalities have been covered in another thread.... best thing to do is look up your own states RTA and decide for yourself, i have done this and got myself a copy of the vic roads vehicle standards information, all the info you need is in there

we need that thread pinned then

or at least summarised in a new thread which can be updated when new legislation occurs.

Here is WA legislations i've found. The previous one was only the +1 +2 section which isn't complete. I should point out this is from a section that is headed: What can i modify without approval?

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Alternative road wheels are permitted under the following conditions :

Rim width must not exceed the maximum rim width specified by the manufacturer by more than 25mm (1") (for passenger vehicles manufactured after 1st January 1973, the manufacturers rim width shall be taken as that specified on the tyre placard).
In any event, rim width shall not exceed 177.8 mm (7") unless specified by the manufacturer as standard equipment for the vehicle in question. No increase in rim width is permitted for vehicles fitted with original equipment rims in excess of 177.8 mm (7") width.

The wheel is contained completely within the body work of the vehicle which includes acceptable flares.

The wheel does not foul any part of the body or suspension under all conditions of travel
The vehicle handling is not impaired in any way.

The tyre to rim fitment must be in accordance with the Tyre and Rim Association Manual.

Rim diameters must be the same as specified by the manufacturer.

The wheel must be one designed for use with the vehicle with respect to bolt pitch circle and wheel nut tapers

The track must not be increased by more than 25mm (1") over the maximum specified by the manufacturer.etc.

All wheels must be the same size, profile and bolt pattern.

Vehicles required to comply with Australian Design Rule 24, "Tyre & Rim Selection" must continue to comply with this Design Rule (contact the Department of Transport and Regional Services for more details).

The fitment of so called "plus one" and "plus two" and tyres is acceptable providing :

the overall diameter of the large rims fitted with the lower profile tyres do not exceed the overall diameter

all tyres and rims fitted to the vehicle are of the same size and profile

with the exemption of item (f), the tyres and rims are in conformity with the requirements specified above in items (a) to (j).

Reducing the wheel track less than the original manufacturers specification is not permitted, as this may reduce vehicle stability.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

so indeed anything above 7" wide in WA is illegal.

they also have an ability to submit a written application for approval for vehicle modifications. I'm going to give that a go and report back

Bob Jane put rubber on my 19x8", they didnt mention legalities.
I even purchesed the rims thru them new.

From what i've heard they stopped this rule after 2004.
It's definetly not the rule now.

Ohh and yeah bob Jane would put 19x8" on my car too with 93 rated tyres which is illegal in at least 2 ways :)

but 20x7" is still all good in WA at least :) (or 21 x 7" if you don't like using rubber at all)

but good luck finding any

yeha i certainly wasn't expecting to see a blatant nothing above 7" width at all. I'm still a bit berwildered at why that rule would have been brought in.

Ohh Arcane just check your tyres. They most likely will have a 93 rating written on the wall of the tyre.
