Howdy, after some info here
Has anyone put electric Windows into a non-electric windows TR/KS yet?
How Long did it take?
How Much did it cost?
Would any jo-Blow be able to do this? or would i need to know alot more then i do now...
I have asked a member from here who said im looking at over $450 to get this done which is a little expensive.
any Help appreciated...i really want electrics
Paul
i still got all the parts ready to be fitted, buuuttt, i think that'll happen wen/if we get the car back on the road
an estimate on time would be approx maybe 2 days to get things in, shouldnt cost more than a few hundred, maybe 150 if u use 2nd hand goods from the wreckers, but if u go for brand new stuff, ur lookin over 200 bucks for the motors and everything else

I'm very interested in this aswell, the two front windows (drivers+passenger) but have to consider if its worth it...
would love to hear from some one who has done this, or got it done by a company

I had electric windows in my TS.
Got them from E-bay. $299 for the kit and came with hole covers to cover the wind up handles when it was removed!
Worked great.
Had it installed by an auto elec for $100. Took 2 hours :D
Came with it's own set of controls that I cut and put into the door.
Piss easy and good result too :P

Not exactly, but I did intend to a while back, but i've killed the project as you know the car is dead.

How Long did it take?
A weekend should do. A fine Sunday should do.
']
How Much did it cost?
Buy 2nd hand parts, not much at all. Way less than $450 especially if you DIY.

Hmm if you can install your own sound system then this is a next step up for your skillset (mind you I jumped from doing sound installs to FWD transmission/engine conversion :P )
So no not all joe blob would be able to do this ( i know people who I will never let near doing a neon lighting install *sigh*)
Basically all you need is heaps of wires, time, power window regulators (they have the motors in them) and switches.
My recommendation is to use Magna/Verada power window regulators because its essentially a STRAIGHT swap, no cutting drilling involved. I would also try to find interior trim with the power window switches so this makes everything look very OEM like.
You will NEED to spend TIME wiring it all up, basically all the wires from each door switch and regulators must go back to the drivers door. You may noticed also there is a relay holder already set up in the fuse box for the power windows. I've spent half a day at the wreckers ripping a Magna apart to see all the wiring. I can confirm that fuse box is all wired up and ready to go! The 12v wire follows into the interior but stops at a junction connector, thats where you'll need to tap that power from. The interior side connector is missing the pin for the power windows 12v feed. My plan was to add the new pin into the plug and away you go !
In saying all this, I have a set of four doors with the power window regulators all intact and way too many Verada interior trims that at the moment I wouldn't mind getting rid of! I've even got the parts you need to install into the plug to grab that missing 12v feed that you want.
If there are anybody serious in doing this mod then have a chat with me. By the way if you want the regulators off me, you're taking all the doors with ya!

Thanks for the Help Dan....i know josh was telling me how you planned to install it but never got round to it.
Only problem is, arn't your trims blue? So that cancels me out.
After reading what you posted, im gathering its 2 wires from each "regulator" back to the drivers door where the switches are, and from there just into the fusebox....of course with more fiddling around....but im definatly up for it, and seeing as ill be redoing my door trims anyway, it doesnt worry me that i need another set.
Next time i go wreckers ill definatly try and get as much as i can, trims, regulators etc, even if i dont get round to doing it for ages, or 1 door at a time.
And besides the trims and regulators, is there anything else i need to get from the car to make it work? or is it a DIY thing.
Thanks for the help

Hmm, not really, just wiring I suppose, but it'll be easier to just buy a roll of new wiring than grabbing it out of an existing setup. If you're going to get the regulators from the wreckers, might be a good idea to get the screws as well I guess.
And just make sure you get the trims with switches, it's mighty difficult to track down just the switches!
oh and it might also be handy to get the wiring harness with connectors that goes into the switches, otherwise you'll end up soldering wires directly onto the switches.
I actually have three sets of door trims, now you know why I want to get rid of them! (I need more room, my Ralliart-spec bottom end at the moment is sitting in my bedroom!)
One of the sets are grey/black which I actually bought from GRDPuck and are in pretty good nick.

Sweet, everything i needed to know...
Tell you what, if i cant find these at the wreckers any time within the next month i might have a little chat to you.
Thanks
i might have a chat to ya bout that stuff, was thinkin bout this, didnt know how hard it would be, i thought i should leave it for a car electrician, but i have put in a car alarm and immobiliser and several head units without any probs so i may aswell give it a try.
BTW knowing me this will be finished somewhere between 4 weeks - 30 years lol

Hey... I am thinking of doing this mod, came across a wrecked Verada with the interior intact so all I have to do is rip out the power window gear.
Where abouts is this junction connector? That's the only bit I'm not sure of... everything else sounds pretty straight forward.

Power windows are the way to go. They should've made them standard on the magna's :doubt:

Have been asked about this many a time, what stumps me is that people spend 2 days wiring all this crap in when the entire wiring harness can be changed over in less than half a day and if you are lucky to get one from an KRXI, Elite or KS verada you can also use the climate control.
The dash is under 2 hours to get out, the harness plugs into the fuse box. The RH harness in the bay needs change over, again a relatively quick job.
You then have a factory set up, no pains working out which wire is which and not fear of a dodgy wire somewhere. Most wreckers will sell a complete harness for under $50.00

I know its not exactly the same but i fitted power windows+mirrors to my VP.
Its really easy if you can find doors the same colour but i had blue doors and a white car.
Took about 10 hours including replacing the interior (dash, seats, doortrims, plastics, everything :P)
