So have any of u fellow first gen drivers installed a fire extinguisher ? If u have where did u mount it and if u have'nt do u have a suggestion where to put it?
im going on a long road trip so i bought one just to be on the safe side.
also have any of u used one of these. im just about to do a oil change and i went to grab the normal ryco filter and saw this. well it was 10 bucks more but i thought id give it a go anyway.

also does anyone adjust there balance shaft ? they say to do it every 20,000 unless it was fitted with a self adjuster which a few where ive been lead to belive.
though i might as well check that to.
p.s how do i tell if my 1990 to sedean has a manual adjust or automatic adjust??

What do you think might catch fire? I would recomened putting it under the drivers seat or maybe in the boot/under the bonnet.
Looks like an oil filter to me... can you replace the filter inside it/clean it?

well the pictue is of a K&N performance gold engine oil filter.oh and no its not reusable just expensive.
and yes im definetly worried about losing my magna to fire since i have a 5000 klms road trip to do in september. if uve ever seen boosted booya's show condition magna (400kw) ull know what i mean. he sunk the best of 30 000 bucks into that car then it burnt to the ground on a road trip between alice and adelaide. now if u know the guy that started the whole AMC (blake) his beautifull vrx burnt to the ground while he was asleep, so yea ive got one just want a good place to put it and it needs to not act as a projectile if i have a accident.

Under the back of the driver seat then, shouldn't be to hard to get it out in an emergency...

TM-TP didn't have the self adjuster for the balanceshaft chain, TR/TS did. but it's possible to fit the adjuster on by getting a TR/TS oil pump and associated components.
OR
take out the balanceshafts :D:D:D
i solved my rattly chain by elminating them. BEST MOD EVER. i'm still not over how much of a difference it's made to my car.

make sure its securely mounted, a fire extinguisher at 80ks can do a fair bit of damage in a cabin
Mines mounted under my knees in my 3rd gen.

well sorry but there are tp's built abetween 1990-1991 who did have the self adjusters my friends got one and theres someone on amc who's tp is self adjusting as well . but if u read up on the tp's the info u find will say that MOST tp's have a manual adjust balance shaft .
anyway dosent matter cos ive re-adjusted it and no more rattle at idle YAY FOR ME:D
as for the fire extinguisher i was going to put it on the raised part of the floor between the centre console and rear seat but i think ill put it in the boot.

what about near the kick panel on the right hand side on the drivers side?, Im not sure if its legal there but i think it would be easier to access if it was there instead of having it under somewhere that you have to bend or lean down to pick it up.
Near the kick panel would simply need an arm streched out to access.

but you'd kick it - thats why they call it the kick panel :D
i like my leg room.
i think its stupid how people put fire extiguishers in the boot.. seriously... amps are one of the things that would likley catch fire .. and theres no chance in hell that if my boot is up in flames that im openeing it to get out an extinguisher.
i have mine in my garage...

boot is wot ive always had it in... and always been reccomended.
no chance of it flying around in cabin (or stolen).
and in just about all cases, u gonna be getting out of car to use it... so might as well have in boot.
main scenario is when u want it for external use (ie another car)... so boot is fine.
just about all emerg.services have it in boot too.
i was thinking of this myself. I thought if tis a small one i would put it in the passenger footwell, at the top right, close to the centre console as you can. Under the glovebox there is a panel thats just a flat tray basically, i would bolt it into that so that you could lean over and pull it out

Just make sure you have it secured really well.
Because if it hits you leg in a car accident, it's going to destroy it.

CAMS requirements state it has to be reached from the drivers seat while strapped on. Although your not going to compete in any events, its still a decient guide line. Mine is on the passenger side of the transmission tunnel.

mine sit on the same side.....its out of your way, out of the way to your passengers, and both are within reach to the front 2 people.
Just experiment with places, i know GRDPuck has his mounted on the passengers side A pillar!
