View Full Version : Odometer stopped ticking over

Thought I'd run this odd problem past the collective intelligence of AMC.
It relates to the VR Series2 commodore I've been driving around in since my Magna has been off the road.
I noticed late last week that the odometer and the secondary "trip meter" had stopped ticking over at some stage (was definetly working when I borrowed the car).
The speedo is working fine, and I assume the odometer would run of the same sender that the speedo uses.
Anyone ever encountered anything similar and aware of a likely cause??
Cheers!!

try pushing the reset button a coupla times.
sometimes they just get stuck.
My guess is the small plastic gear inside the cluster is stripped and needs to be replaced.

He is not talking about the speedo.
The odo on my first car did that (VL). New cluster was quoted at around $120 I think.
I never bothered to fix it because I knew it had been wound back by the previous owner.

Cool thanks guys. I'll try Old Farts suggestion first, if that doesn't work, well it's up the cars owner whether or not it's worthing fixing or not.
