Ok got my tax back and it is car mod time!!! Got the car booked in for the suspension and am now seriously considering some kind of new intake system. What would ppl reccomend? I thought a K % N filter but then not sure on what else or even if this was the best idea. So any help would be great... will probably take it back tot he same place that did the extractors/exhaust but want to have some kind of ideas to put to them

Is that the panel or the pod that makes it sound better? If the panel makes it sound better (with a redback cat back system) then I might grab one.

If you are going the panel option freakinu, just do it yourself, I have changed stock paper filters heaps and they are simple enough for a total newbie like me to do so you won't have any dramas sloting a K&N into the slot.

Get Twunka to grind your TB, cheap and effective :)

Are the're any alternatives to K&N for a high flow panel that will fit a 3rd gen?
Just interested as i can't justify $120 on a peice of paper :(

the pod will produce a better sound, although performance wise the panel and the pod are pretty much the same.

ppl are staying away from the pods due to the flat spots, although some ppl dont even notice the flat spot with the pods

Can't justify it?
How bout the fact that you never have to replace it? So if you keep your car for 100,000kms or more, it'll pay for itself lol. That's alot of kms.

There not paper. They're actually cotton and they will outlast the life of your car. The rubber seal around them is also top quality and resistant to deterioration.

Think about the cost comparisson. $120 for a KandN or $40 + $40 + $40 + $40 etc.... for paper filters. The recharge fluid is pretty cheap too.

I got mine second hand for $45 reconditioned, so basically brand new. Came with a reconditioning bottle too. Definitely worth it i thought :D.

What's Twunka's story? Where is he at and what does he do and charge?

I did a search on the net for K&N filter tests. Turns out that they do not filter the air that
well. They are infact not filters but filter chargers. If you want to go the panel way, there
is a dry-material type that filters better and has better flow. Can't remember its name. Do
a google search for K&N filter comparison or something like that.

ATM.. We have an Apexi Power Intake on a 3L TF.. they say 3" is restrictive etc. But it seems to be doing the job!

I'm going to go and organise another of the TH Smoker style kits.. Diesel spare a few bends.. a lil piping.. MAF Adaptor and wire it up!

Definitely gets you that cooler air!

hey i run an FTO K&N CAI kit (it fits a magna no hassle's) with K&N pod on the end. this thing really awakens the engine and i'd recomend looking into it. as for throttle body grinds i can do it for ya for $80 if ya anywhere near s/e QLD however i dont recomend u doing it yourself basicly its grinding out the trottle body to allow a smooth airflow to the engine, instead of the lumpy airflow going there now.

Lol to go against the grain here, I don't have K&N, I have a 5 inch Blitz stainless steel pod (not the cheap imitation ones either, the real thing lol ). It lasts a lifetime like the K&N, but due to the stainless construction, its a dry filter, and doesn't require re-oiling every x amount of kilometres.

And let me tell you, it is bloody brilliant. Has that crisp steel induction rasp you just can't get out of the papery style of filters, and put the foot down, and you get a huge induction roar! Lovely.

I love it. I've tryed a K&N pod on my car as well, and it just wasn't the same. I would reccomend the Blitz any day. :)

But with any pod, you want cold air going to it, whether it be a $200 cutom box, or a $20 pipe from super cheap running from the front bar to your filter lol

Oh and as for the flat spot... I don't really get that?! It doesn't have any of the described symptoms... I think its something to do with adaptor, placement, and type of filter, not the MAS, but again, I'm no mechanic :P
