just bought a magna and the cd player works fine.... but no reception for radio. none at all. on autofind it just skips thru all the stations like there was nothing there. whats happening? I must say that the antennae is broken. its stuck in one place. doesnt extract or extend automatically. but there should be some reception atleast. 98 TF

not plugged in at which end? the cd player or the boot? I m pretty sure the cd player is plugged in.

an aftermarket stereo could have been in the car before you got it.

Perhaps they forget to plug in the coax.

If its the standard CD player - mine does it as well... I have to replace it I think...

replacing the aerial isn't to hard although i would just pull out the head unit and check that they plugged it in/pushed it all the way in first, only costs time so not that expensive :D

I would double check that the aerial is plugged into the cd player.

I have an intermittent problem with this too. The majority of the time I can't get any radio reception... However, occasionally I'll get perfect radio reception, but then move the car about a foot and nothing :(

I know the co-ax is fine as I've checked it for resistance, and if I put a multimeter on the inner and outer at one end it is open circuit. The antenna plug is plugged it at both ends, and the electric ariel is fully functional... It's got me beat :confused: lol

I have noticed when im under the car port autoscan doesnt work.

I just bought a TJ series 2 advance and i have the Exact same problem. Sometimes the FM signal will come but majority of the times its just static. AM is always fine.

I heard that this was a common problem with these particular factory headunits. Anyone know anything about this??

I think the easiest fix for me is to buy an aftermarket HU.

Just bought a TJII, had exactly the same problem. There is a known issue with the gen radios/cd. The circuit board dies or at least half dies. $190 back to Mitsi to fix, 3 months warranty, will be dead in 18 months , so other people have told me.

Ditch it

Went to Strathfield bought a DEH-2850MP Pioneer - $179 ... 4 X way. Awesome with standard speakers. Radio is superb, can pick up stations 200kms away when in my garage under the house. It'll do me. (jmt)
