Does it power on? Or is it completely dead?
If it powers on, do ANY of the functions work? If it doesn't power on believe it or not that's a better sign than if it does power on.

ha ha...... well it's a 2 din 6.5"lcd dvd mp3 jigger..... well easiest way to describe it is the lights are on..... but the mutha****ers not home... there is a cd in there and it spins around, no sound output... ummm.... lcd not working but backlight does... and motorised screen not working either.... the dude looking at it says best case scenario, couple of little jugger risistor type thingys and $30.... worst case burned out main board etcc... $$$$300 maybe... if repairable

Yeh worst case scenario there's a short somewhere, only way to find it is to replace sh!t until it stops shorting LOL.
If it powers up and no ones home, eeeeep not looking good. At least if it doesn't power up you know straight away the power supply circuit is gone, unless you managed to fry every component, would be pretty hard to do unless on purpose.
