Has anyone changed the globes behind the instrument cluster to colored leds?
If so how was it one?
Any help would be appreciated!

LEDs are bad as they dont give a broad width of light, the little single globes for warning lights should be fine, but for the main cluster globes a ultra bright white would be better

I'm with science, numerous 2nd genners have done this, and with excellent results. You just need to choose your LEDs wisely.
I think Lenny recently tried it on a 3rd gen, but apparently he go LEDs that were too big (long?) for the 3rd gen cluster. Any comments, Lenny?

I've a second gen and I've changed the bulbs to leds both behind and in front, the ones in front are too 'chunky' to sit so I have to work something out because at the moment they fall out so the standard bulbs are in there but the difference is amazing its REALLY clear and easy to see whats going on now.
I recommend doing this a lot! (And its cheap!)

hmm, i had UV T5's in the front of my cluster and they sat in there fine...only trouble was, was that they were too dull :doubt:
but i have white T10's in the back of mine. each T10 has 5 LED's in it and they are angled to give a nice spread of light.
what brand were the ones that didn't fit? mine were all the autobarn brand ones...

yeah they were to big.i brought 6 led wide angle ones but i meausured the wrong globes and assumed that they would fit 3rd gen guess not. they are about 3 mm to wide and a couple to long i think. im pretty sure they will fit 2nd gen but not sure. they are still forsale if ne1's interested. they are blue btw. they spread da light evenly

The 4LED T10s from warden_jp2002 on ebay should fit, and give off plenty of wide-angle light. Most of that seller's stuff has dimensions, so you can measure up your current lights and see if anything suitable is the same size or smaller.
The 1Watt ones would be really bright and wide-angle, but cost a bit.
