with some of the higher HP magna's comming out has anyone looked into getting a dogbox installed in they're magna's. its an interesting concept and i think it would work wonders for a magna

Not even the high powered ones needed it as far as im aware, although custom gear ratios would be AWESOME to have for track racing.

hmmm i must be thinking of something completely different its just slanted gears that allow u to shift up clutchless without loosing boost that i'm thinking of lol

CVTs cant handle any torque and they have huge losses :P

We see a few dog boxes on the dyno and theyre great when your flat out but in traffic they'd be noisy and clunky unless you got your change right every time, synchros were invented for a reason in family cars.

What is a dog box? I knew about CVT and thought it was an answer to Twunka

They are not nice to drive unless you are driving 80% plus. They also need frequent rebuilds and are expensive.
Why not wait to find a manual 380 box. They have better syncro's and better ratio's

Like what the V8 supercars have, you can slam them up through the gears without the clutch. Great for racing, not the most practical though.

i have a feeling Booya enquired about this, before he was going to sell the car?

like most street cars that have them, you would only really need 1st and 2nd, as they are the higher stressed gears (most likely to go BANG) but even still, mitsu gearboxes are real stong from the factory, unlike poor WRX owners

You can slam through gears without using the clutch in any manual gearbox so long as you've synched engine speed and gearbox speed.

A dog box doesn't have synchros so you need to rev match or it just won't work. The benefit of a dog box for high torque applications is that without the syncro rings you have more room for wider gears which means they can handle higher torque loads. A lot of dog boxes also have straight cut gears which makes them stronger again.

5K clutch dumps in any AWD will see the gearbox fail in short time. :P
