Hey You lot!!
I have noticed on my TS 2gen auto that i can be on the freeway at 100k and it would run at 2500 to 2600 rpm. Then after it has gotten warm enough it would slowly drop revs to around 2200rpm! As if it engages the OD properly or something!!
Any clues and is this normal???

Dunno if it's normal but this is what mine does :). I'm pretty sure that it's the lock-up clutch engaging.

They're meant to do that. They do it to get the trans fluid up to the right temp.

That'll be the torque converter locking up. But then again, the torque converter is meant
to lock up at around 70km/hr

Yep, that's ruffly the speed it locks. Checked the fluid?

Fluid is perfect.....recent filter change , oil, band adjustment. No clutch material in sump. Everything looked normal. However, this is my first auto, before this I had a Sigma GL 2.6 Manual 1981, bought brand new! Then a Magna TM exec 2.6 Manual GLX, bought with
3,000k on the clock!

Yes I can vouch for the fact that all Magna models, from TS to 380, have this feature (if you can call it that), where the lock-up torque converter in top gear does not engage fully until the car has been running for about 15 or so minutes. The effect is that the engine runs approx. 250rpm higher at a steady cruise, then if you watch the tacho, it will drop when the transmission is fully warmed up.
Eg. KS Verada - 2450rpm at 100km/h, until about about 15 min of driving, will settle to 2200rpm
KH Verada - 2250rpm at 100km/h, then settles to 2000rpm
380GT - 1950rpm at 100km/h, then settles to 1650rpm :):) yay for tall gearing
So it's nothing to worry about, I'm pretty sure

Yeah that is totally normal. It is ment to do that.
As said, it is the torque converter locking up and it will only lock up when the tranny fluid reaches a certain temp.
Totally normal and it is doing what it is designed to do.
