What brand is the 6x9?
That amp has 2x90wrms @ 4ohm, which would be quite abit for a fairly cheap 6x9.
You can probably pick up a jaycar amp pretty cheap, but they dont look as cool :P.

Yeh it would be, some pioneer gear is overpriced to be honest. What are your pioneer 6x9's rated at? I guess you could always run the soundstream amp at very very low gains, would let you upgrade the speakers in the future.

They'll definitely sound alot better off the amp than they will off the headunit (assuming they are semi-decent). I'd be more worried about blowing them up, make sure you tune them properly and if the speakers distort, TURN IT DOWN or you'll blow them.

*EDIT*
If i was you i'd buy a 4 channel, that way you have to option to put in a sub later or do your front stage as well.

dude i once had a bmw with a 4x45w head unit, and kicker 6x9's sounded prety good, then i added a cheap as audioline amp, i still have it but havent used it for years... it was much much better!! and i was only using a cheap crap amp and my 6x9's are 160w from memory... i'd immagine good quality audio gear would be shiploads better... do it!

why are you amping your 6x9's anyway? :P put it towards your front stage :)
