Would there be any benefit in putting a 2L head on a 2.6L astron? Higher compression? But does compression mean much with petrol, I mean you need compression for nitro but what about petrol?
Thanks, Evan.

are u talking about a 2lt sigma head?
if so it wont work. i think the bolt holes are the same, eg. as in it will bolt up but not work.
ive been lead to belive that the cam is a few cm's longer or shorter and therefore wont work.
but im sure someone will be albe to confrim that for sure.

i know in old holdens they use a head off a 186 engine on a 202 block for higher compression and that worked a trick.

Okay, I have the 2L in the back yard, and I have the 2.6L at the shop, I am probably going to kill a 2L head and my block :(

Your Sigma head will bolt on.
But it was designed for dished pistons and a smaller capacity
You have flat top pistons. Would send your compression thru the roof:confused:

agreed, magna has flat top pistons... sigmas have dished - the compression would be too high, unless you change over your pistons. if your gonna change over pistons, it could be expensive depending lots of things like how much has your blocks cylinders have been honed out, etc etc
better idea is to get your 2.6 head machined.

DUDE IT WORKS NOTHING U HAVE TO CHANGE (IF IT IS SIGMA WE TALKING ABOUT) ONLY PROBLEM IS MAKE SURE U DONT GET ASTRON 2 HEAD AS THE EXHAUST STUDS ARE STRAIGHT UP AND DOWN SO U WOULD NEED TO CHANGE U MANIFOLD OVER .
YOU WOULD GET HIGHER COMP DEPENDING ON HOW RADICAL CAM ETC ETC PISTONS IT WILL RUN ON NORMAL UNLEADED FINE
I DID THIS ON MY SCORPION AND I WAS HAPPY WITH THE RESULTS

ok first off please take off ur caps cos it looks like ur flaming me.
now if u read the post he was asking if a 2lt sigma head will fit on a 2.6ltr astronII magna.
now if u read my quote u quoted i said i wasn't 100% sure and that someone else will be able to confirm it .
no need to start to keyboard warriors now:D
