Hey everyone, i have a 1990 station wagon with the 2.6 injected motor.

I believe its the fir gen TP series.

I need to replace the starter motor and was wondering how hard they are to take out?

I have done them before on RWD cars but not on a FWD?

Looks like there is alot of room to go from underneath but will not know until the morning.

What you guys think?

If theyre the same as the second gens you hafta get under the car and remove a strut just to one side of the starter first. The rest is easy peasy japanesy:D

Who ever decided to put the starter motor in that location is a wanker.

Remove a strut?

Is that hard to get out? Or do you just push it to one side?

what have u been smoking. removing struts pfffh
open ur bonnent now stand on the drivers side and take ur 14mm ring spanner and slide ur hand behind the water pump and the rear engine mount and undo the 2 14mm bolts then move the starter backwards towards the dizzy then snake it back through the radiator hose behind the air filter. now i have done it this way countless times u can do it just is a bit fidely but nothing need to come off to take out the starter. oh dont forget to undo the elecical connections on the back of the starter.

Easy on the old guy, I did say if it was the same as the 2nd gen:cry: .
When you undo the starter on them, the dam thing wont go far enough across to take it out. You hafta unbolt the efi manifold support strut first. I dare say its easier if your carby powered.:P :D

sorry dont take it the wrong way wasn't having a go old fart:D
and no u don't need to unbolt anything there is enough room (i have efi and have done this about 20 times) it is a little tricky and u have to get ur hand and move some of the hoeses to the side but u dont need to take anything off or out except for the two 14 mm bolts.
didn't me to offend u old fart, sorry if i did.
