hey guys, heres one for the resident audio guru's, as my new interior is arriving next week some time (hopefully :P ) im taking the chance to fully prep my doors and install some new speakers, the speakers im getting are the focal 156 V2's, its my understanding that they have a metal dome tweater and people have told me that they can be a bit harsh on the ol ear drumettes when give a good thumping, now as i like to give my stereo a good thumping quite often ive been advised to mount them down abit lower, my wuestion is where would be an optimal location for the tweets? i was gonna go down arounf the woofer somewhere but thought id get you opinions and suggestions first,

thanks in advance,
tom

When I was running my 165V2's I didnt have the tweeter mounted low, I had it about 2-3" below the window line on my front doors, cut a hole in the trim and flush mounted them. I did this coz the tweeter can be set to -6db which cuts out a lot of the harshness.
Oh and I was feeding mine 130wrms, had the doors deadened and made up a set of custom MDF mounting plates.

But with the crossover settings set to -6 they arent tinny sounding, imho anyway.
They are a great sounding speaker that gets very loud.

ahh i see, i have done exactly what you have done with my current splits, pioneer silver thingys with a bullet looking thing in the middle, you know the ones haha, but well with an interior as good as wtchme's (well his exact interior actuallt haha) i dont really wanna be cutting and making permanent changes to anything, but thanks heaps for your info, , if all else fails i might be off to AudioArt&tech and get some door pods made up :P
