hi,

got this bad problem of my clutch always slipping when i put the foot down (occasionally) only its a new clutch so it shouldnt be happeneing...right? anyway i get fed up with it so get the mechanic to look at it. When he takes the clutch out he says its in pretty good nic still, not really worn out. So anyway, he puts a new one in, slaps the car back together, starts her up, goes to take off and the clutch blows up. Then, takes the clutch out sees the springs are broken etc. So on monday he is going to try ANOTHER clutch (this will be 3rd in 4months)

Anyone know why a new clutch would slip? And why a clutch would just break like that? (im assuming its faulty) Are there any other parts of the car that could wear the clutches or cause it to break?

Any help appreciated.

thanks.

the flywheel does get machined every time so that shoudnt be the problem and according to the mechanic he says they don't make a heavy duty clutch for a 3 litre? is this correct?

I dont like bagging mechanics
but heaps of members have clutches fitted without the sort of porblems you are posting

the flywheel ,pressure plate and the input shaft are the only 3 things in contact with a clutch
...has to be a problem with the seating, tension or alignment or them alone

I wonder if the gearbox has an unseen internal problem bearings or worn input shaft busted circlip ?
I can think of 2 cases where there was a busting clutch
metal spacer plate was left off the engine
and another of a warped gearbox housing face where it bolts onto the engine block ?
that had to be machined then a shimm fitted

thanks for the help. I will see wot the mech says on mon. and let uze know.

Does the V6 have a stepped clutch face or specified height?
