Hi All

I've been thinking of getting either sensors or a reversing camera fitted to my TL VR, as to me the cost of fitting one of these will outweigh the cost / inconvenience of one or two minor rear end reversing errors.

Has anyone had any experience with them - from what I can see, the cost of camera systems is not much different to the cost of the sensors, and I've been told that the sensors when fitted aftermarket can be a bit iffy if not aligned correctly. If I go for the camera I thing I'd prefer a screen which is part of the reversing mirror.

Any thoughts?

Cheers

Depends how confident you are on backing. I have fitted sensors to the wifes car and i can guarantee they have paid for themselves already by saving possible crunches.

As for how they work, when you have them installed, they should be setup and aligned by a professional so they work correctly.

Just remember, you are looking at atleast what, say $200-$300 for a respray of rear bar so really, one minor tap on the bar and you have paid for them, and its also the inconvenience of having your car off the road being fixed as well.

But if you are confident reversing then i wouldnt bother to much but if not, then go for it.

I recently bought a 4 head reversing sensor system which i want to get installed in the rear bumper of my TJ Verada. Anyone know of any good installers in Melbourne? I guess i can get the sensors colour coded first at any body shop.

I've put the sensors in previous cars - it's not hard to do depending on the structure of the rear bar.
Have put a reversing camera on my TJ S2 linked up to an in-dash display. Works well but I put it on the angled part of the boot next to the number plate and am not completely happy with how close I see the groung to the to the rear of the car. Works fine though - triggers off the reversing lights so meets ADR requirements.
