Does anyone know where I will find the ECU in my TE?

I thought I'd ask before I go pulling my car apart looking for it!

akaik, the ecu on the 3rd gen is under the cowling surrounding the steering wheel, .. here theres a picciy half way down..

i actually thought it was that silver box/processor like thing down furthur towards the centre console (but still under the steering wheel dash) Near the foot rest.

if i remember right, thats where my mechanic hooked up.

(but yea, i might (and quite likley) know nothing).

ummm isnt the ecu near the passanger foot well?

If I knew what it looked like I could pull my car apart and have a look for it but I dont even know what it looks like so theres no point pulling my car apart yet.

its a silver box which looks like a computer hard drive, its located near your head unit, somewhere in there, you'll have to pull out a bit of plastic to get to it.

Its well under the head unit.

Lift out the centre console top.

Its forward towards the engine, about 300 mm forward of the gear level from memory.
Yes it looks like a silver hard drive unit but with a much bigger connector coming out.

You can also see the side of it from the passeenger side footwell,
unclip and pull back the carpet from underneath the centre console back to the front of the seat. You can see the side of the ECU through the cut outs in the metal panel that supports the console plastic trim.

It's housed in a metal bracket. You can take it out by unscrewing that bracket and wiggling it free. To do that you'll need to remove the metal panels in the centre console part of the driver and passenger footwells. Just pull the carpet aside to see them.

Have a look at the pics in this thread (http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showthread.php?t=35438&page=2) to identify the panels you need to unscrew.

It is in the center, below the Cruise Control ECU, housed in a metal bracket. The cables are pointing to the cabin of the car.

Dose any one know what the silver box is behind the drivers side kick panel then ????

just for anyone who wants to know, Slamd6 and I pulled out my ECU tonight to install my Apexi RSM and so I now know where it is.

It was down in between the two front inside kickpanels underneath the centre console. So thats where it is in a 3rd gen TE Magna.
