Hello All,

I have a 1993 Mitsubishi Verada V6 sedan.
These are the things i got done on it yesterday:
- Service (oil filter, spark plugs)
- Replaced front brake pads and machined front discs
- Brake fluid flush & bleed
- Coolant flush & pressure test
- Replaced alternator belt
- Tighten front suspension bolts and top strut nuts
- Automatic transmission service
- Adjusted TPS which was slightly out
- Checked ignition timing and idle
- Washed engine bay
- Normal check over the car

I got this done a Werribee Mitsubishi in Victoria. I got charged $650 for it all. Now, when i took it in, i thought the tps would be out and the transmission needed to be serviced as when changing up gears and in particular when slowing down, the gears would thump into gear, really dramatically!!! But thats still not fixed, is a little better on the gear change but certainly not slowing down!
The front brakes are working well yet there is a grinding kind of sound coming from the front when brakes are applied. Also, the car has alot of lag, more so than it did before when for example cruising at 70km/h and needing to overtake someone, it shifts back one gear when i put the foot down and then another gear but it should shift down two gears straight away depending on how far you push the accelerator.
So what i figure is i paid $650 for the oil to be changed and the car to be washed and vacuumed!!

Any ideas on what the transmission problem could be? Am i over reacting with me thinking that i got ripped off?

Any help appreciated!
Thanks,

Pete

couple of things there would justify the amount..

transmission service for example, some places charge up to $250 for that alone.. it includes filters and fluids..
front brake pad replacement $80-100
machining i think is around $80 for two..?
brake fluid flush $60ish
the rest sounds like a standard service which would generally cost around $120-160..

all that roughly adds up to the price uve been charged.. so i wouldnt say u got ripped off any more than anyone else that goes to a mechanic does :D

this is all from prices ive been given by mechanics when i ask for my car.. Usually end up doin most of the work that i can do myself to save money:doubt:

As for the brake noise.. new brakes take some time to settle in, and may be squeaky for a little while..

Yeah i thought that about the brakes but the fact that the gears are still thumping is the part im a bit angry about...
Yeah i can understand all the charges and costs for everything but its like i paid $650 and i still am having problems that i told them to get fixed...
