haha i don't think he even mentions a 380 in teh opening. I'm waiting for:
"the 380 owns all of the above"
"The 380 sucks"

Ahh damn, you used to be able to do a google search for the exact title and then click
on the cached link to see the whole article (thats assuming someone else with a paid
account has read it).

I wouldn't take too seriously the drivle that comes from the feable mind of the author in question, Julian Edgar. Born a bogan, has remained so since and will until his timely departure from the land of mortals.

I have blasted him once, and it's just not worth the time and effort arguing logic to someone of minimal standing in the automotive world - though God help us should he breed.

...(better for those with a subscription :doubt: )...I don't have a subscription to Autospeed either - just get their emails at the moment. :doubt:
I was hoping someone else did and could fill us in a bit (without fully copying it in - copyright etc.)

This thread is pointless without the whole article. I nominate Puck to pay for a subscription for being the original poster and teasing us with part of an article.

Here is the summary

The Car
We’ve documented the deficiencies of the 380 in our road tests: a fundamentally old engine design, a small boot opening, no fold-down rear seat, no stability control available on any model, patchy build quality (at least on the press cars), some obvious cost-cutting in the interior plastics. And we’ve also highlighted the good points: excellent auto trans calibration,
good steering, good ride and handling, effective engine (despite the old technology).
But in terms of ride and handling, it’s the 5-speed manual transmission models equipped with sports suspension where it really all comes together......Can we recommend the 380 in manual transmission and sports suspension form? Yes, if you’re a hard-charging driver who loves a really sweet point-to-point car - and don’t need great fuel economy – this is a car that can punch at vastly higher levels than its cost suggests.

Thx for that TecoDaN. Good read, despite the fact the writer went a bit overboard about the steering kickback.

BTW... what happened to your TS wagon?

Have any 380 owners here ever experienced the steering kickback that the writer was going on about? Can someone explain why this would happen in layman’s terms? Is it just from trying to put too much power down through the front wheels? If so, presumably this will be more of a problem as they increase the power output of future engines?

As I understand it it's because of the FWD combined with the suspension setup. The reason some journos have a problem with it is it because they've (MMAL) made it that way as a compromise between ride quality and handling.

Thank you, TecoDan. You are generous indeed. I have heard rumours about the 380 VRX's prowess in hilly terrain. Looks like it's well earned. We all now await with interest, what Miitsu has up her skirt with the 'new' 380 VRX. lol
