Hi all... I'm after some ideas... The symptoms are as follows:

TS 4cyl EFI - When the engine is warm, the battery light on the dash will flicker on and off. Not constantly, just for a few mins at a time, then it will stop for a while. Then for no apparent reason start flickering on and off again. Sometimes it stays on solid for about a minute or so.
It's doesn't make any difference what RPM the engine is doing. It can do it at idle or in motion.
I'm not convinced it's an alternator problem because the battery is charging nicely. A multimeter across the battery terminals at engine idle registers about 14.5v.

I'm thinking it could be a dying regulator, but i need some more ideas. Any input would be appeciated.

as i stated on the MCA board where magna buff has posted about the regulator in the Tm-TP section. It is the same for your car you can get the regulators through repco or any auto elec

sorry bout the post on mca i was in a rush..

Thats great guys, thanks. However I was asking for peoples ideas on what the issue could be based on the symptoms. Can I assume that your saying a dud regulator is a probable cause of this problem?

Worn alternater brushes can produce this effect too. If they are worn to the extent they lose contact some of the time then charging will fail at that stage and bring on the light. Then if they make contact again the light goes out.
