Since i got the car witch wasnt that long ago i have noticed a change in the trans.
its a 2000 Magna TJ V6 3.5 ltr auto,
it seems to be changing up gears alot later than what it should
just when cruising and not thrashing it, it always seems to change gears around 3000 revs, if not abit more.
anyone else got this problem or is it normal?
Thanks

Does it happen all the time or just when it's cold? My car will rev out abit more when it's colder.

Don't mess with this, just go and get an Auto Transmission shop to look at it if you're concerned (and I assume you are or you would not have posted here). I learned this the hard way and am now on transmission number 3 in my TJ

mine always does this, only after i been [edit] it good n hard, and manual changing the gears. drive it normally for a few days and it goes back to normal. thats what i have found anyways.

If the car is not cold, it'll do this after being driven hard as the car had adapted to how it last remembered being driven.
A quick fix I found to bring things back to normal: put triptronic in manual mode, drive gently and manually change your gears @ 1800 rpm or so from first to fifth. This is best done starting from the lights preferably in a 60km/h zone where you can also start in second gear, after a couple of lights you'll be back to normal.

At the red lights, get on your triptronic and set to second gear while still stationary. Start gently from the lights and @ 1800rpm advance the to 3rd gear, wait for revs to reach 1800rpm advance to 4th and same for 5th. Repeat the process @ the next set of lights, then select auto, the magna's gearbox should start changing gears @ about 1800rpm. At least mine does. Hope it goes well for you.

Sorry SlobTech, I meant you use the triptronic and change gears yourself. From your profile which I should have checked, I understand you have the 4 speed auto gearbox, as opposed to the 5 speed triptronic.
Either way it learns and adapts to your last driving mode. Be gentle and it should start changing gears at lower revs. Hope it goes well.

Try disconnecting your battery for a while, reconnecting then driving for a while. Doing this will wype the memory of it's shift patterns and it will re-programme itself. Drive moderately. If this doesn't work, tranny specialist or tranny service.

Triptronic autos came out in the 2002 TJ series 2 magna so yours wont have the manual mode.
