I've been getting this squeeky noise coming from my front right hand wheel for a bit now. Sounds like a wheel bearing... Very similair to this thread. (http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showthread.php?t=38731&highlight=wheel+bearing) Squeeky whistly sound at low speeds, then it gets drowned out after about 30-40km/h. How much are wheel bearings, where are they located and can I do the job myself?

i picked up the wheel bearing kit for 40bucks from mitsu, thats the bearing, and inner and outter seals. its located in your stub knuckle, not sure if you could press them in yourself easily...

Don't think it can be my brakes because I did the old drive slow then slowly apply the brakes things and it didn't make any difference to the sound. Hand Brake and CV's are definately a possiblity tho. I might take it to a mechanic later in the week and just get them to have a listen.

Get the car up and see if there is any play when you wiggle the wheel around....if the bearings are really shot there will be play in the bearing that will noticeably allow the wheel to move (that is, tilt perpendicular to the hub). The hubs can also wear and cause noise, as they are simply pressed into the bearing...unlikely tho.
The magna running gear is fairly simply, it’s quite easy to get the knuckle off and have a good look at your bearing. Unfortunately you will need a press to get the actual bearing in and out…don’t know attempt this with a piece of wood and a hammer!!!...however just be warned that the hub nut is one of the tightest on the car! Hope this helps.

wheel bearings dont usually have whistle noises...
its more of a drone, that will increase with wheel speed.
to further investigate; steer left, then right, so as to load up that particular corner of car. this will give you an indication of where the noise might be stronger in noise.
if you dont understand what i just said, ill re word that...

Is the side that the sound is coming from, the side with the longer driveshaft? If so then i'd make a good bet that its the bearing on the shaft. It sits inside a mount halfway up the driveshaft. Its probably got some grit in it and is squeaking as it rubs.
You can try spraying some kind of solution into it to flush the grit out (just make sure its not a strong solvent so it doesn't perish the rubber) or you could take the shaft out and clean it up by hand...
or just replace the bastard lol.

It's like the noise you get, you know from like a trolley at a shopping center with a shonky wheel? It makes a squeeling, whistling kinda noise, but only on each rotation, like at one spot on the rotation which gets progressively closer together as you gain more speed. Anyway, I'll take it to a mechanic next week or something.

Did you check what i said?... if theres no play in the wheel bearing at all, then i'd say what i said previously is the probable cause.
