hey guys...
I'm having 1 of those weeks where my brain just wont work..
say i have 2x 200wrms 4ohm svc subs. now i parallel them for 2ohm.
question is: do i need the amp to do 200watt or 400watt @ 2ohm?
same deal with in series...
2x200wrms 2ohm svc in series for 4ohm.
do i need 200 or 400 watts @ 4ohm?
i figured i'd ask instead of trying to remember and having my head explode.
Cheers,
Tim

The subs will now have a rating of 400 w rms in the first case,
In the second case do you mean 2 x 4 ohm SVC (same as the subs in the first scenartio? or 2 ohm svc ie different voice coil config.)
Either way you want your amp to be stable at the load you will be presenting to it. So if you have your subs wired at 2 ohm you want an amp stable at 2 ohm. The total W rms that your 2 subs will now be rated at is 400 w rms in both instances ie add up the power ratings.
If you are deciding whether to buy svc or dvc, then look at your amp first and match your requirements to that.
Give us some more info to clarify before you go and buy anything.

they were made up scenarios just to get my head around it.
its actually for a friend... she's gone crazy and bought 4x rockford P1 subs and now i get to find and amp to make it work
i just to a quick mesage from her earlier so i dont know any real details yet (ie. ohm)
i think the first job will be to get her to sell atleast 2 of them lol

its actually pretty easy to wire up more subs to get the load you want. you have many more wiring options anyway. So its much more flexible.
Peace
