Howdy all,
I've recently become the semi-happy owner of a 93 Magna Auto Wagon.
It's done 160000 and is completely stock. Bit rough around the edges but generally OK.
Problems... [there's always some]
When cold [left overnight] it starts and idles fine but has a HUGE flat-spot ie: no acceleration [revs fine in neutral tho'] until it's been running for around 5 minutes.
At 80-100km/h there is a very slight "miss" every 1-2 or 3 seconds.
I am reasonably handy with a tool but after reading the workshop manual [thanks be to you guys!] I keep seeing mention of a MUT... hmmm...
So the big question is... is there anyone in the Marrickville [NSW] area that you would recommend as a Magna mechanic? I had the engine "fully serviced" by a local guy who seems to think that the way to fix timing chains is to put in 40/70 oil... no names but flippin' heck...
I had the auto tranny serviced by a guy I trust so I think that side is OK - It just seems like I'm in for a timing chain, ECU [maybe] and who-knows what else... maybe I shouldn't have sold my old TP2.6 to the wreckers...
Anyway thanks for taking the time to read this far - and thanks for having an incredibly useful forum - I don't think I've found an online forum more supportive and informed.
Richard.
