OK, Heres the story, when i bought my TJ (in december) i bought it from a dealer but not a mitsu dealer, though the dealer i bought it off gave me this 3 year warranty thingy which covers everything up to some many $$, To keep this warranty in effect the car must be serviced every few months to keep the warranty current with them (which i only found out today).
Well the problem is i had the car serviced 3-4 months ago which was 100k service. What got done? Just oil and filter and a general check over..I asked about why the 100k service wasn't done and why they hadn't followed the mitsu service schedule, they said that for they're service's they don;t follow the schedules and that if i want the 100k service done i have to specifi...i kinda laughed at that..so ok quote me up how much this will cost and we'll book it in. She said ok i'll have to call u as i have to ring a mitsu dealer. and guess what...she never phoned!!!!!!! So i took it to the local mitsu and got it done....and well today i've gotten a letter saying that my warrenty has run out since i haven't had it serviced within in they're time periods.

So where do i stand here...I think they haven't upheld their duty of care.
What are people thoughts on where i stand..

You need to read what it says on the back of your contract regarding the warranty, or if it doesn't specify there get a print out of all the rules and regs. Unfortunately ALOT of car yard dealers have very dodgy warranties that aren't really worth the paper they're written on, basically with stupid requirements that no one will follow making the warranty void.
We can't really help you with any advice unless we know the specific terms of the warranty.

Speak to the warranty mob.. more often than not, if the dealer isnt doing what theyre supposed to, then the warranty people want to hear about it cos it reflects badly on them also. I guess it all depends on the warranty and whether or not it falls with the warranty company, or the dealer...

Most of those warranties you get on used cars are offered by the car yard itself you buy the car from and the car (normally) must be less than 7 years old and done less than (i think) 130,000kms..

And because it is a warranty offered by the car yard, that means they will wear the costs (if any) if anything goes wrong.. because they are prepared to wear the cost, they will want to do all the servicing incase you get it done elsewhere and it stuffs up because you didnt take it back to the place of purchase to be serviced..

basically those 3 year warranties are just scams to a) entice you to buy the car and b) make you come back to that dealerhsip for services..

i dont think they are worth the paper they are written on personally..
